Adult Guinea Pig
My poor little girl slipped into her forever sleep today after fighting so hard these last couple of weeks.
I first met Hazel at 2 weeks old, such a tiny little baby half the size of her siblings. At that first meeting I had no idea I would be her forever home 3 years ago. I had agreed to take her special needs mother, Tilly, once she finished her pregnancy and raised her babies. Except nobody wanted the little runt, I was asked if I would take her too and of course I did.
She was probably one of the loudest little scraps of hair I'd ever met
she very quickly knew where the food came from and grew into a huge adult. Originally they were meant to join Ebony and Bailey, but Tilly made it clear she didn't like Bailey one bit and vice versa so they remained their own little pair of inseperable misfits.
Until Finley came along to complete the trio, I was worried Hazel would be alone when her mother passed so made sure to introduce a youngster for her but, Tilly has soldiered on in spite of her issues and now outlived her little one.
All 3 were always incredibly sweet together, I will miss the lovely dynamic Hazel brought to the group.
2 weeks or so ago Hazel unfortunately suffered a small, 30cm fall which seemed to cause incontinence, however as time went on and she began to recover, a mass could be felt in her pelvic area, she was due to have exploratory surgery tomorrow although her odds were not hopeful. Sadly she couldn't hold on any longer and passed away early this evening.
Sleep well Hazel, you will be so unbelievably missed
