Junior Guinea Pig
The girls' urine stains were bright pink a couple of mornings ago . I assumed UTI but they were both very lively and both had very healthy appetites . Neither of which fitted a UTI ( at least in my experience of humans) I monitored them and neither of them were "poorly" Enlightenment dawned when i realised the bags of pre packed salads they had been devouring with gusto contained a significant amount of chopped beetroot. Stopped the beetroot and the urine went back to it's usual colour.
They would obviously been taken to the vets asap should their urine continued to be pink during the morning and if they had shown any sign of distress,
In future beetroot will be monitored !
