After Hafina has spent the night and the morning ensconced on the mezzanine at the top of the cage (and ignored by the tribe), she was relaxed enough again that I decided to let her share run time with the tribe.

Thankfully, things went well, even though Hafina is probably begging to differ slightly - sadly she's no good at all at standing up to any piggy, and we're now right in the middle of fitting her into the hierarchy.

However, it's not all doom and gloom, as you will see!

This is the very first time, Taffy is actively taking grass off me at the fence! A VERY special moment for me... after 11 months!

Hafina is nuzzling Nerys again - could this be the beginning of a friendship? I have never seen Nerys this patient with a newcomer!

Oh, how cute. I am thrilled that you managed to take these pics. A MASSIVE well done to Taffy and Hafina. Taffy has came such a long way since she came to you and as for Hafina, she is being brave :) xx
 
These pictures are so heartwarming, in so many different ways. How lovely that Taffy has finally decided it's o.k. to take your grass, that is just delightful. And wouldn't it be wonderful if Nerys and Hafina did decide to become gentle buddies, that would be so nice for Hafina.

I have to say, I really now understand why you simply had to have Hafina - I think she's a stunning piggie, really beautiful (and you might guess which is my favourite picture - the last one, of Hafina and the Chicken!)

Lovely pics and it was wonderful to see Hafina and Taffy doing so well.
 
You must have felt like flying when Taffy took that grass :)! Amazing!

I'm also really glad Hafina is slipping right in... Sure, Nerys looks tough, but she might just have waited for just the right BFF! You've got plenty of reasons to celebrate!

Thanks everybody - it was a very special afternoon for me, indeed!

Taffy has had such a long way to come - she was literally scared stiff for several months and it was impossible to get through to her at first. So to see her behaving like a normal, relaxed, trusting pet is such a feat!

Little Hafina is such a bundle of contradictions - suddenly she is in a panic and the other moment she is not bothered at all. She is quite a vocal piggy, actually, and from her behaviour I strongly assume that she has been badly bullied before; partially because of her eyes, as she must have been fairly blind at times, not being a dominant piggy at all in the first place.

But there are small glimpses of a cheeky, trusting little soul in there which will hopefully come out once she has settled in her new home and her new group, and is gaining her confidence. I can already pick her up quite easily or give her a little reassuring pet.
 
It's great to see them all out together. Very happy for you and the two very special pigs Taffy and Hafina who have achieved so much. x)

awwwwww Velvey me know that you and Hafina have a connection you two have probs with eyes yes? Yes Nexy whee do.........so i am very understanding of what she is going thru, it will be scary for her, but she has such a lovely and caring slave and such fun and happy piggies to greet her from the Tribe.....me thinks it will all be okkies.......... x)
