Not a nice subject, we keep finding beheaded birds in our garden, another was found this morning. Obviously some sort of animal is doing this, but what? Most foxes etc would take the bird away, and it's not a cat, although I doubt a cat could get the head off a blackbird :(

anyone have any ideas what could be doing this? hope it's not rats........ :( :( :(

Our cats sometimes take the heads of rats and mice and stuff. Sounds like cats to me, but could be wrong.
Ive never heard of rats beheading stuff?

my cats only tiny and has no trouble taking the heads of blackbirds! :'(

I'd go with a cat too my cat brought home a thrush the other day don't know he managed to catch it he managed to take its head off too :'(

Oh blimey :( a cat then. There must be one prowling round our area then, as we have a cat but she is kept in at night, and I can't think of anyone in the area who owns a cat :-\ p'haps it's a feral

Yep. Mum says its deffo a cat. They take the head of cos the brains the tastiest part...YUM YUM!

thanks mutton chops............... xx0 xx0 xx0 xx0 xx0

Hi
My dad has chickens on his small holding and finds that a carrion crow regularly comes down and beheads the smaller chickens. Its really unpleasent and heartbreaking because the crow never takes any other part of the chicken. :(

Ah right a type of crow could be the culprit as we do have tons of crows, jackdaws, magpies, rooks etc in our area
