My piggy nightmare continues!

Just two days after Alan, Beryn 'Candytuft' very unexpectedly passed away from heart failure after a night of major but not severe bloating and another near/very mild short GI stasis episode.

I am beyond gutted and very heart-broken. Beryn was a very people-orientated dumped ex-single who struggled with other piggies but loved her cuddles (especially chin rubs) and who loved giving piggy kisses in return. I adopted her from the RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, in September 2017. She is the latest of my 'proper' Welsh adoptees over the years.

Dylan? No thank you...

Fine as neighbours... but neither Gareth nor Meleri did find favour in separate attempts; just some of many more
Beryn is holding the Tribe record for unsuccessful bonding attempts (including babies who - literally - scared her stiff) but she did eventually find piggy love and happiness for a while with squishy older lady Betsan (née Boots). Even then, it took three weeks to get through the full bonding process because Beryn kept going on overload after a little while. But as they kept exchanging messages of friendship in between round, it was really worth persisting. Betsan taught Beryn piggy manners, mostly by complaining very vocally. They became a very closely bonded pair.

Betsan died unfortunately suddenly from a massive overnight heart attack just before the pandemic so I was unable to find another one like her under the circumstances. Macsen (surrendered to TEAS because of supposed bad bullying) was another failed suitor, who stayed on because of Lockdown and ended up living with Hirael.

But I try to take consolation that I have been able to give Beryn a happy life with plenty of piggy interaction through the bars and with eventually being able to find her that elusive fur-coated soulmate - and have plenty of cuddles and kisses along the way...

She must have been coming up to 6 years of age.

Beryn's send-off bouquet reflects her outlook and personality: Red roses for her kisses and her deep attachment to those she loved and pelargoniums from my porch pots for being a people piggy.

Sadly, my nightmare is still not yet over...
