DougalandDiego
Teenage Guinea Pig
Hi everyone,
Hoping to get a bit of advice about the best grass seed for a piggy with IC or whether it’s better to not be introduced into their diet at all?
I have two indoor boars (one of which has IC) due to having a dog and two cats next door, who also use our garden, we are not able to pick grass for our piggies. I have recently stripped Diego’s diet right back to the basics of pepper, cucumber and coriander and I’m gradually introducing other veg to see what causes a flare up. He is currently having quite a bad episode so wonder whether it’s better to introduce some fresh grass in the hope this might be more gentle on his bladder and give him a bit more fresh food than what he’s currently getting (I would obviously do this very slowly as I know it can irritate tummies!) or whether it’s best left out of his diet if he’s not had it before?
If he’s able to have it is there a certain type of grass seed that I can grow that’s best or the lowest in calcium (if that’s even a thing?) I’ve found two types online and wonder if any of these are suitable? One is Timothy hay grass seed and the other is cat grass?
Thanks in advance!
