Hi there I am a New Guinea pig owner and I am having issues finding a vitamin C supplement that my little guys will actually eat. I have 3 and 5 month old boards I know the drops are no good and I tried the oxbow vitamin c wafers and I can’t get them to eat them. I heard about giving them liquid which I am not opposed to but I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions. I appreciate everyone on here it has been so informative.

Hello!

There's actually no need for vitamin C supplements. Hay has some, and you can easily feed veggies high in vitamin C like bell peppers and cilantro. Pellets also have some but remember to keep these to a minimum (about 1tbsp per pig per day). :)

They don’t need vitamin c supplements if they have a good and varied diet. Hay and fresh grass contain a lot of vitamin c. So do bell peppers and coriander. So just be sure to give them pepper and coriander every day and they should be okay.

:agr: A good hay based diet with a variety of veg and a small amount of pellets and they will be getting all the vit c they need. You don’t need to give supplements at all.
In fact, supplementing vit is a waste of time and money if they do have a good diet as excess vit c is simply excreted out in the urine anyway. Also, long term overdosing on vit can also cause health problems.
