Hi all, i have been feeding my boar's pet shop hay but from reading this doesn't round like the best option. What type of hay is best for them? And where is best place to buy it? Thanks

I give mine (and the bunnies) Dust Free Hay
http://www.dustfreehay.co.uk/hay.html it's £20 (inc delivery) for 5 bales or £30 for 10 bales - you can also buy it in hessian sacks from them, but I struggle with storage.

And here's some of the different hays available lol

Just wondered where you keep your hay? Are the packs they come in/bales really big?

I use pet shop brands, p@h timothy hay and Burns welsh meadow hay mainly because I live in a flat with no storage and no garden but I'm moving at the end of the month to a place with a garden and more storage space, so would love to get them off the pet shop stuff (especially as the quality has been really bad lately) and buy some dust free hay or similar.

I use a variety....Comfy Meadow hay, Bob Martin Meadow hay and Excel dandelion and timothy hay :)

Pet shop hay is not necessarily bad. It can vary a lot, even from bag to bag. The same goes for most hay as it all depends on the weather, harvesting and storage.
I bay hay by the bale from my local feed supplier. It's different almost every time I go. I check that it is dry, sweet smelling and not full of thorn or weeds. It's much more economical to buy like this but depends if you can store it. I have mine in a bale bag in my hallway. It costs about £7 and last 3 weeks as I have 7 pigs here at the moment. They have a lot of hay for eating and bedding.
I also have a few posh hays- oat hay, orchard grass and some readigrass which I sprinkle over the top of the normal hay for them to forage for.

:)

I get mine from a local equestrian shop it's good stuff (well the piggies love iti lol) and it's fairly cheap only problem is it's packed that tight your fingers hurt trying to pull it out of the wrapper.
