Hi,

I am currently trying to save money, so our money for the future is safe (just in case as what is happening with the economy in this depressing country at the moment:{) and so my babies will be safe and sound as well. Since I tend to get carried away at pet shoppings I always end up spending at least £50"), when I should be spending less than £10 for straw, hay and megazorb! So now I am trying to be sensible with finances! Not that I can’t afford it – oh no way I would never ever give up my any of my pets, I make sure they have their needs 1st and available at all times rather than mine!

Anyway, our hay and straw are good quality and cheap from our pet supplies shop (they do not sell any pets!) I also buy megazorb there which is cheaper than buying on the internet.

But I realise what about guinea-pig food - my female guinea-pig is currently eating edexcel adult pellets, are there any other good quality pellets but cheaper than edexcel available that you would also recommend?

Thanks!:)

Gp`s do not need straw,in fact it can cause eye injuries, the hay is all they need.Megazorb is quite expensive as well and you could use just newspaper and hay.Vet beds are the best bedding but they are expensive to buy,but in the long run they can work out cheaper because they can be washed and will last for years.

I do not use pellets I prefer to use a muesli called Chudly Rabbit Royale. This has no additives and is low in protein.t is a lot cheaper than most of the other commercial foods.
It does not contain vitimin c but as my pigs get lots of fresh veg every day this is not a problem.

the stratch and newton stuff is cheap @ p@h at moment it is nuggets and is about 2.50 or something like that for 2kg

Horse supplies are lot cheaper then pet supply places...I get my megazorb for £5 a bag and the hay is £4 for a MASSIVE bale. I also got a huge sack of carrots today for £3 and I couldnt tell you how many were in there!
and as the other poster said I would remlove the straw.
Not sure there are huge savingsto be had with the food alone

I'd been getting a 2kg bag of dried pellets for guinea pigs from Macro - it's only £2.99 a bag. Though the last few times I've been in they haven't had any. Usually I stock up with 2 - 3 bags of it when I'm there.

I have just bought Rabbit Royale for £11.75 for a 20kg ? bag
