Best Water Bottle

I have a Kaydee chew-proof glass water bottle that I bought at Petsmart and that one never, ever leaks. The bottle has a groove in it that a very sturdy spring fits in to hold the bottle in place to the cage. I have had bad luck with plastic water bottles leaking until they emptied entirely.

I use two glass water bottles as well, stops the piggies from chewing through it (which they've done with every plastic bottle I've ever given them) and tbh they seem to prefer the taste. I've never had a problem with my glass bottles leaking or not giving the pigs water either.

Edit: I have the Trixie bottles, but I know others on the forum have the living world bottles, which are the same idea.

I have found that sometimes plastic bottle can leak when you put the spring around them too tightly. Could this be the problem?

We use a mixture of plastic and glass, and I feel that the glass bottles are definitely less prone to leaking, but one of my piggies far prefers plastic

Have exactly the same problem @Lorraine ...I have bought a couple of new water bottles (the standard red spout ones) and they all leak which makes that corner of the cage constantly wet...was thinking it needs some sort of drip tray underneath it?! But may investigate a different brand of bottle as recommended above :)

I also find this. I use garden wire to hold water bottles on rather than springs or any things they come with as I find it easier to adjust to prevent this.

My longterm plan for my piggies water-wise is to get them a JH Ezi Filler but I haven't got around to it yet. Probably something I'll pick up at the Bradford Champs next year or something.

I put a small stone from my backyard under one of the dripping bottles and it helped to keep the bedding dry until I got a better bottle.

I have just switched from the 'regular' red-lid plastic bottles to sippy cups, it took one of my boys a while to get used to them but now they both use them happily, and there are no drips and no noise!

I think Aimee is talking about these @Lorraine

I was given one to try out. It was great as there were virtually no drips, easy to clean and refill too. But none of my boys really got on with it. I'm guessing it was the angle of the spout was the issue, fussy things my boys! :)) If I've still got it, I'd be happy to post it to anyone who would like to see if their furballs get on with it :)

I've actually got one of these. Used it when older piggies were indoors. When they went outside I used the standard type with a cover for winter. I've put the sippy one on today

Yes sorry @Lorraine and @Tim ! That's them!
One of mine struggled initially, so I put them at a slight angle for a couple of days to mimic the old red top ones, he's sussed it now and they're both up straight! :)

I use the red lid plastic bottles. Currently I have four of them in the cage all at different heights to find out which height they prefer. I use the regular Guinea Pig sized ones. I did have a giant one attached, but it leaked line crazy so I removed it.
