well I've got the 2 girls Roxie & Layla separated from Tufty for now.....what is the best way to introduce them.

1 in the hutch...just let them intogether
2 one girl at a time with Tufty
3 introduce them in the kitchen on neuteral area

any other ideas would be great!

I did let them together for a few minutes, but there was alot of teeth chatting!

Neutral territory with lots of food, no hidey holes and you with arm fulls of hay to break up fights. Everyone in at once so they all get a fair chance to mark the place.

Gaile I just want to wish you the best of luck as on Sunday I will be in the same position as you!

if I cleaned the hutch...with a fresh hutch would that be the same as a neutral place!

Gaile I would go with somewere the piggies haven't been from what I have read it is the best way!

So nobody knows the surroundings, so nobody has the upper hand!

Here is a list of tips about introductions: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38562

With a boy, it may be of use to have him next to girls for at least a day or a night, so they can get used to each other. It will also give you an indication at how the introduction will go (interest? Or chattering from the girls?)

Please brace yourself for the boy going bonkers for a day or two. he will probably lose any use of his brain until he runs out of testosterone. Trying to mount anything moving from any direction is NOT a pretty sight and neither is smell - get something to stuff your nose with; just remember that it works for guinea pigs (ladies as well as boys) and that they can cope with the occasional hormone overload. Don't have anything a girl can backed into. But you will notice that any girl in season will stay close to her guy while protesting at the same time that she is not ready - YET.

If girls are physically aggressive right from the beginning, the bonding will probably fail. If they only go off at the top of their voice and run, you are OK and just have to sit it out.

I had my boar living next to the girls for 5 weeks before they met each other properly.

Once they met he did try mounting a few times but I haven't had any of the nasty smell and he didn't have overload either. i don't know maybe he's just laid back but I found it not at all like the crazy humping thing. I think he was just so grateful to not be alone.

I did introductions in a seperate run whilst I cleaned the cage in the same room to keep an eye on them.
