Hi guys,

I am looking after my mums boy Benny Benbo this week, and i am really really concerned that he is maybe a bit of a chubber.

I am taking pics of him tonight and i will post tomorrow, please please please will you give me your opinions, as my mum wont listen to me, but i think he needs a bit of a diet.

I will put his weight on too if i can find something for him to fit in to weight him. Hes more like a puppy than a piggy!

He is totally gorgeous though and not scared of anything, i lurve him x

He is my bro after all lol x

I don't see any pot belly on him :) Boars are meant to be on the larger side.. you should meet Biscuit.. he's lean, but by god! He's huge (length wise):))

Some piggies can be more "big boned" than others; it looks like this is the case with Benbo. He doesn't look unhealthy, just chunky!

Your two boys are pretty young, aren't they? That will make the contrast in sizes much more noticeable. :)

as others have said he soesn't look overweight, have you weighed him? He looks about the same size as my boy J.J :)

check out the "meet basil" post, basils a great big boy, but not overweight, i like to call him Chunk but he gets cross when i call him that. x x x x

ha ha ha thanks guys, he is a little star and i love love love chunky lads, god my mum is going to be so smug!

Weight to follow x

I have had some 'big' pigs, and also some 'fat' pigs. The way I tell the difference is if they are big overall, it's ok, but if it is their tummy that is just big/flabby, then they have had to go on a bit of a diet. Weight can only be a guideline, as others have said, some are just big boned, others are smaller pigs generally. xx

oh and mine....although i do have a soft spot for these two little fellas ive got here at the mo he he he

My boar Sam is a chunky pig and weighs 1450g. He's quite a big pig though, around 30cm in length ( he's the length of an A4 piece of paper ). His weight seems to be going up and up but he gets fed the same as the rest of the herd!

Obese is a piggy when it has big fat rolls when it bunches up and a belly that touches the floor when it walks.

Weights can differ hugely, and a big boar like that can easily weigh 1500g or even more without being fat!

I would say heavy, but not overweight, taking into account his weight and body shape/proportion. :)

he is definately heavy! He is a cracking little pig, i adore him, sadly hes going home tomorrow :(
