Since Jet passed Biscuit has rumbled almost constantly while awake. She seems on edge. Last week I thought she was in season - usually it goes Biscuit then 2 days later Zigg then 2 days later Binky. Biscuit and Zigg spent 4 days chasing and mounting each other. But Binky didn’t come into season so I wonder (although Zigg has stopped mounting Biscuit now).

Today Biscuit pinned Zigg into a hut and then went to sleep against her. Jet wasn’t top pig Biscuit has always been top pig, is this Zigg using Jets death to work her way up the rank. Is it usuall after one passes for the rest to do this? Is biscuit just unsettled (she and Jet were close).

It is common for hierarchy to alter when a pig dies in a herd. Hopefully they will work it out. If she continues to rumble have your vet check her for ovarian cysts

The loss of a member of a group can cause ripples for quite a while. But as @pig in the city suggests, if she keeps on rumbling I would get her checked for ovarian cysts. Hope all calms down.

Thank you all.

Biscuit we know from the last scan has cysts (but its the least of her worries health wise), watchign her I think she is just lost without Jet. The others have calmed down but she is even runbling when I stroke her (not like her at all). This morning she was cuddled with Zigg and little (or not so little now) Willow keeps searching her out for cuddles. I think she is feeling old lost and vulnerable having lost a second close companion in 6 months, I am also wondering if her eyesight is failing as she is doign what Jet used to do (rumbling when she gets into a bed or hay then squeaking). I am hoping the little ones rally round because I am not up for getting another boar just yet. I have enough pigs with the 4 of them now.
