Quill has been biting me, the few times she’s been nibbling hard. Then she drew blood on my thumb then bit between my hand causing me to yell from pain but no blood. I don’t understand. They aren’t usually into biting and she knows what my hand is why is she biting me. She lets me pic her up she will even snuggle against me why is she biting me.

I don’t know how well this would work for you but my first guinea pig was very cage territorial and I was so confused as to why she was acting out at me, whenever I’d enter her cage to change anything or top up food or move anything she would literally lunge at my hand and she definitely had intent to hurt me so I started giving her a small tap on the nose and saying “naughty” in a pretty cranky voice and now she’s my most friendly guinea pig (out of 6) and super well trained, when she does anything wrong to her cagemates or is acting crabby all I have to say is naughty and she’ll go sit on her bed haha.

Please take the time to read our biting guide. There is no need for nose tapping, blowing or shouting or any other punishments whatsoever, which guinea pigs don't understand anyway!

You can sort a dominance issue out much easier and much more understandable with a couple of whispering tricks as described in the guide. Always start with reassuring a piggy that you love it, then assert your dominance and always finish with love again to make sure that it knows that you want it to be part of your group provided it follows your rules. I mimics what socially adept piggies do to integrate a new piggy intp their hierarchy. ;)
Once you frame the issue in a context that guinea pigs instinctively understand, it can be very easily solved without the need of force or punishment.
PS: As forum members can attest, piggy whispering really works and is amazingly effective! :tu:

Yep Piggy Whispering worked for me! The most effective ones I found for me and my piggies were talking to them as I approached the hutch (any old rubbish will do) and stroking them gently just below the eyes with a fingernail. You will find what works best for yours. Good luck!

I did the exact same thing with my piggy cody :D

Piggle always bites daddy but since she bit him hard the first time (on the neck!) he gets really hesitant and nervous and holds her at arms length which obviously upsets her (I keep telling him off for this but he has a blood clotting problem so a hard guinea pig bite can look like chainsaw massacre!). If Piggle nibbles me I hold her very firmly and close to me in the fold of my elbow (wearing a thick hoodie!) while stroking her face and under her chin and the back of her neck and nibbling her ears and talking to her in my dominant "calm but no nonsense" teacher voice. No punishment or cross voice ever, just "I'm the boss but I love you" stuff. She knows I'm head of the herd, and daddy comes somewhere below her and Puggle in the household hierarchy :)

The black and white aby in my avatar pic was a biter. The piggy whispering guide really does work, my OH can even hold him while I cut his nails now and no blood is drawn!
