hi
why is it that all your piggies are fine for ages and then they all seem to have problems at once! :'(
Well I had Mimi out this morning for a cuddle and she decided she'd like to have a wee on me! ::) She seemed uncomfortable when she was doing it and she took quite a while. she was stamping her back legs and then she started making a high pitched sort of squeak when she was doing it :( The wee looks normal, no blood or discharge etc. her parts also look normal and clean, and the wee smells normal i'd say! (yes, i've been sniffing it LOL! ::) 98)) she seems fine, alert running around, popcorning etc. she's eating lots, not sure about drinking What can it be? :-\ do you think i should see a vet? :-\

Give her extra water by syringe.Do you have any Septrin?,if so start her on a course. If not a vet visit will be needed. This is probably an infection, and needs to be treated early.

ok i'll give her some water. O0 no i don't, we'll make an appointment for the vet then, second time in 2 weeks LOL!

awwwwwwww poor little Mimi, i hope you get some meds for her O0
Healing wheeks and piggie kisses from us :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Know what you mean about vet visits.I can go months on end, then am practically camping out aat the surgery.

;D ;D ;D well just phoned up, got one at 3:20pm O0 so will let you know how we get on ;) the receptionist was like, so it's not peony, it's not pansy, it's not bertie! LOL! ;D

ahhh hope Mimi feels better soon :-* :-* :-* :-*

Septrin is the best antibiotic for this type of urine problem. I also use cystitis treatment, get mine from Lloyds, it is their own brand and tastes of cranberries, the pigs love it and it is safe.
Just mix as per instructions and I give by syringe 3 times a day for first day and can also put in water bottle.

we saw a vet, she prescribed Baytril :-\ and said to come back in 2-3 days if she shows no imporvement O0 she also said to give some pro-biotic aswell so i'll have to buy some bio-lapis O0

See how she goes Izzy, one of mine had a UTI and baytril cleared it in a couple of days. Septrin is better but baytril can work and its the only one licensed for pigs so they will always try that 1st O0 x

hi how is little mimi today? hoping she is feeling better. don't know what you mean by the vets, but we can go months on end with no vet visits then wham we have to go and it's going to cost a small fortune. that's usually how it works here. hugs and cuddles to you and mimi. perhaps you should have you vet on speed dial?  just kidding. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

well she's had 3 lots of Bayrtil now, doesn't like it much, but is being a very good girl :-* i had her out for a cuddle and she still sqeals when she wees, :'( hopefully it'll start working soon :) she's still eating, but not as much as usual, mind you she has a very good appetite normally, so she's having quite a bit still, and i think she's having water, i'm syringing her some anyway O0
haha! yeah! we should ::) ;D :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

hi
just got her out for breakfast and a cuddle and her medicine, and she's not herself :'( she's just sat there hunched up and un-responsive, sleepy, she only ate one tiny bit of pepper, and it took her ages to realsie it was there. she's normally squeaking her head off and wanting pansy and she's just sat there quiet and when pansy went back with her she just ignored her, when normally she's all over her. she's just not herself at all so we're off to the vets again at 2:30 :(

really hoping mimi gets better. sending hugs and prayers to you and to her. perhaps an ultrasound or a urine test would help? i really hope she gets better real soon. give her a kiss on her little twitchy nose for me :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: please let us know how you get on at the vet. come on mimi you can do it! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

thanks so much choloe, thats the sort of kind words that really help :-* thanks so much :smitten:
we'll see what the vet suggests :-\ i will give her a kissy! :-* and i will let you know, thanks :-*

aw poor little girly, she's probably just a bit fed up bless her, hope the vet can help get her feeling happier again xxxxxx

thansk jnenebene (oh crumbs how do you spell it? ::)) ;D thanks anyway :-* yeah, i hope it's just that. it's worrying me though! :'( thanks :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

;D ::) you spell it E-M-M-A :) maybe you could ask for septrin? i think its less upseting for them than baytril? x

hahahaha! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D (so thats where i was going wrong!) didn't know i was allowed to! :embarassed: ;D
well i'll see what she says, but yeah O0

Fingers crossed that Mimi is back to her usual sueaky self soon.

Fugly sends her a big nose kiss to help her feel better :-* :-* :-*

Keep us updated :smitten: :smitten:

hehe! thanks fugly :-* she'll need it! :smitten: :smitten:
well we've just been to the vets. i'm much happier with the vet we saw today. she's nice, obviously loves piggies and is piggie savvy so thats good O0 she took her temperature and she said it was on the borderline, so quite high. she had a good look at her 'parts' and bless her it's sooo red and inflamed :'( she gave us 2 options, to try another anti-biotic (septrin) or have an xray to rule out bladder stones, and see where we go from there, so i've gone for the xray route, i just want peace of mind O0
so she's keeping her in for the afternoon and will ring later for us to go and pick up, so i really hope it's not bladder stones :'( been crying cos i'm so worried and seeing her parts so red and sore bless her :'( soo i'm giving pansy lots of cuddles so she doesn't miss her too much :-*

the vet just phoned. she said there's no stones and no signs of uterine infection so thats good O0 but she says she thinks she's in a lot of pain, so they've given her some more antibiotics and some pain releif, and she wants to keep her in overnight so she can keep an eye on her, my poor baby :'( :-* :-* :-* i'm so glad we went! O0 she'll phone in the morning to say when we can pick her up ;) i feel releived that it's not stones, but i'm still worried! :'(

Dont worry Izzy (((hugs))) she'll be fine, thats great that there's no stones or uterine infection. Did the vet suggest you use septrin now you know its not stones? I'm sure she'll be fine in no time, sending love for her and pansy dont worry you'll have her back soon :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

thanks, it's just i love them all to bits, and i can't help worrying, you know the feeling with your brill boy ralfie :smitten:
umm i'm not sure what they're giving her, but i expect it is, she mentioned it O0

I do know the feeling, we cant help but worry! i actually cried when Bumble had cystitis but havent over Ralfie apart from when we thought we'd lose him! it doesnt matter whats wrong, the upsetting part is seeing them in pain and not being themselves :( you'll have her back to normal in no time O0 :smitten:

So glad its not stones, keep us updated O0 O0

thanks O0 yeah i just hate seeing them poorly :'( ah well she's in good hands :) pansy's missing her, so lots of cuddles for her :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
