Hello everyone, I am new to the forum. One of my girls Ruby has recently been making squeaking sounds and hunching her back when passing urine and faeces, despite those symptoms she hasn't lost any weight, she is eating and drinking normally and she seems herself however I am still concerned that something might be wrong with her. I have done some research and it looks like it could be a bladder stone, if anyone could help me find out what's wrong with her I would be very appreciative! Thanks :)

Hi & welcome to the forum :) Can you give a rough idea of your location please as we may be able to give advice regarding a piggy savvy vet nearby. She will definitely need to see a vet for pain relief & possibly antibiotics.

Please take her to a vet, they are the only ones that can tell you. the sooner the better. I have had two boys with stones, time is crucial.

Fingers crossed its only an infection of some kind x

Hi! Welcome :) squeaking when weeing and pooing does not always mean a bladder stone luckily, it can be something like a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) or Cystitis. Please get your pig to a piggie savvy vet (there is a reccomended vet locator at the top of the page) where they are likely to adminstsr antibiotics and pain relief. Good luck x

I agree with the others, she may need a scan or ultrasound to determine whether it is a stone or not. It could be an infection though or Interstitial cystitis which is inflammation of the bladder.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome,

Others have already pointed out it can be any number of things. The internet is great but can be often misleading especially when it comes to medical and veterinary information sometimes. It would be best to have your piggie looked at by a good experienced piggie vet. Where about's are you in the country?

x.

I noticed Honey doing this whilst I was at home at the end of this week, she was only doing it occasionally but she is vet bound on Monday.

good luck

Are you anywhere near here?

Mark is the exotics vet I use for my piggies and he is very good - very thorough and careful - and explains what he is doing/looking for which I like. The clinic at Stamford Bridge also has good facilities for ultrasounds etc if required. Always scary making a recommendation in case it does not pan out but if you can get there, I would give it a go. Goodluck for Ruby.

Oo glad there has been a review. That definitely seems like the right vet for you then. Make sure to ask for Mark Naguib when you make the appointment. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I have a video clip of Ruby making the noise but i'm not sure how to post videos on here, does anyone know how?

I agree she needs pain relief as soon as possible, can't hear anything as for some reason my Chromebook won't play sound on Youtube but it definitely looks like it is painful for her.

Have you got antibiotics for her? Lots of healing vibes being sent

I took Honey tonight (Monday's appointment had to be used by one of the dogs!) and he tested her urine and couldn't see anything wrong with it and gave her a thorough examination and found no problems.

I suppose I did only hear her squeak twice......I just worry cos she is 5 now.
