Hi there

I have a blind and deaf rescue guinea pig named Gemima who ive had for about a year now after.
I got her at 2 weeks old and shes been perfectly happy her whole life so far.

We recently got a new 3 month old guinea pig (also a girl) and have introduced them properly (in neutral enviroment) and had them spend a few nights next to each other but in different cages.
They've been living together now for a few weeks and seem to get on in most cases apart from the occasional scare to the blind one.

Only problem we seem to be having is that the blind and deaf one wont let the new one sleep with her and the new one keeps trying to snuggle up to her to sleep. Just wondering if anyone has any tips? or wether itll jsut take time :)

Appreciate any advice from fellow Guinea lovers <3

Welcome to the forum.
Well done for taking on a blind and deaf piggy.
Do you have fleece tunnels or hideys that the little one could snuggle into if your older girl prefers to sleep by herself?

Not all pigs want to snuggle up to sleep, and even those that do will say 'no' sometimes to a cagemate. They can still be perfectly bonded and happy without sleeping side by side. I would leave them to work it out so long as there are no actual fights.

Welcome! I have a girl who is deaf and blind in one eye, She has the opposite problem, shes a snuggler but her companion Ebony isnt..Bramble will slowly get closer and closer until Ebony ups and moves XD she used to have an infant safe cuddly bear she would snuggle with after her sister passed, before we got Ebony, which I'm thinking about giving back to her for comfort so that might be something to consider. But it sounds like they're happy together! Out of my 10, only 2 or 3 are really open to cuddling up together, the others are happy to just have the others in sight, at a distance.

Also, it took Ebony a few weeks to learn not to approach Bramble on her blind side unexpectedly, she used to get told off quite a bit for that! But she figured it out in the end and Bramble soon realised another pig might suddenly appear in her field of vision. So I expect that will just take time for them to become accustomed to.

Thanks for all the help guys, appreciate it.

We used to have 5 guinea pigs a few years ago and they all snuggled up together so good to know that they'll be alright.

Also just a quick question, Gemima has always has trouble walking around and falls over alot, she doesnt seem to be troubled by it but was jsut wondering if anyone with a similar guinea pig experienced similar traits with theirs.

Picture of Gemima from a few months ago (haven't got a smart phone to take photos :) ) plus thought you guys might like this extra picture of our cat Zack and rescue bunny Maurice snuggling together haha
