I was getting Pebbles out to give her her meds when I saw what appeared to be blood on the snuggle. I checked all 3 of them over and couldn't find any wounds. Am wondering where it could have come from?

It appeared to be fresh blood and covered the size of a pound coin. Couldn't find any blood anywhere else.

Was it pure blood or watered down...?
As if there's no wounds on anyone the likely hood is it's a UTI or bladder or kidney stones...

It really doesn't look like it was peed though... Have just taken a picture so will post it shortly.

Its strange *** I noticed it about 2 hours ago yet it still hasn't turned brownish like blood usually does. And I can't think what else it could be as they had no red veggies tonight...

Just out of curiosity...
Was it similar to this...?

This is bloody urine... From kidney damage rather than stones but the same applies really...

Has anyone had any problems toileting or looking under the weather....?

Have they had carrots or water melon or red pepper or anything like that over the last 24-48 hours...?

Wow! I am glad it looks nothing like that! This is the picture of it.

It is a tiny amount. Did make it sound more when I said about the pound coin... Wern't until I took the photo I noticed!

The way its been like "dragged" about on the cosy is what made me think an injury of some sort but after spending like 10 minutes going over each piggie, I can't find nothing.

Pebbles did have a URI, but the vet gave her the all clear today, but said to continue using the Baytril until its all gone, but other than that, they appear to be in perfect health.

Have you checked her bottom and the soles of there feet and round the bases of their nails...?
That looks like fresh blood rather than from urine but doesnt rule it out...

I'd keep a very close eye on her and check no ones squeaking when passing urine or poos... And she has a good apetite... And is happy in herself...

It's horrible when you don't know what's going on... :(
Hope they are okay...!

all paws crossed that she's not coming down with another UTI !

I hope you find out exactly what's up too.....

HUGS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I was thinking maybe a nosebleed (if thats even possible) or something like that prehaps which is why I couldn't see any damage... I didn't think of checking their nails, but my mum sugested that one may have been caught, so I checked them all again.

I think of both Misty and Smudge, it could be easy to miss a wound due to them being black, but I did run tissue over them and nothing come off in that

All 3 seem to be eating, peeing and pooping fine. I have been spending hours each day watching them pretty much constantly! And today, with it being my day off, I have been with them all day, much to my kittys dislike!

Even though it looks so much like blood, and I can't think of what else it could be, I really am not sure if it is. It just don't seem to be changing colour like blood does.

And to top it all off, my mum come running to me saying that Benson, my hamster was covered in blood just a few minutes before I noticed this! The "blood" on Benson was where the silly old man had been playing with the water bottle and was soaking wet!

Hope this has a silly outcome like that did!

Oh dear....
Hopefully it's something like a minor nip that you can't see and it will just heal up...
Just keep a close eye for any problems toileting... Or any deterioration in the pigs...

Lol... Similar thing happened to me the other day...! Cleo had been eating some red pepper and I caught her in the corner of my eye and I squealed thinking her face was covered in blood...!...mallethead.... Was just where the pepper stained her White face...!

Fingers crossed for you...!

So glad to say it definatly isn't blood as it still looks like fresh blood! Still haven't a clue what it could be though.

But no, thanks for listening to panicy mummy! I can't believe just how worried I was! I was shaking when I first saw it! :)

Our little ones can scare us half to death can't they!

I'm so glad it's NOT blood!.... you need a little Sherlock to work out what it was tho.... Not beetroot then?

I really can't think what it could have been. There was nothing red in the cage. They had only had green food for a few days before. So strange!

And the cosy is still sitting on my desk, dirty. I really don't want to clean it as I feel then I will never work out what it is!
