Just when I thought things were getting better, one if them now has blood in their urine! I don't know whether it's the baby who's had diarrhoea or the adult. I can't see any sign of blood on either back end to work out who it is.

Sheesh. I thought I was doing the right thing getting a friend for my adult boar but I'm beginning to wish I hadn't now

Do I take both to the vet?

Sorry to hear about this, and sorry you feel you hadn't bothered, but i promise in the long run you will be glad.

Ok, get a clean dry washing up bowl or large Tupperware and place each of them in it one at a time, feeding them watery veg until they wee (I warn you this may take anything upto 45 mins, i have been there!) Listen carefully aswell as crying/squealing when weeing could indicate a problem also, and by doing htis it will tell you which one it is.

Have they had any red veggies lately? These can cause the wee to be discoloured. especially beetroot!

If you have a syringe take a sample of the wee from each of them out of the bowl and pop it in the fridge, you can then take this with you for the vets to test.

Well, its big piggy with blood in his urine. The vet has given him some antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and said to go back if he doesn't improve in the next couple of days or if he shows distress when weeing or can't wee.

Are there any foods that help UTIs?

You can feed some mild diuretics like dandelion to help flush the bacteria out of the system as quickly as possible; do so for the first 2-3 days. Cranberry juice (preferably not sugared) can also help.

UTIs are not uncommon when the temperature differences are greatest in spring and autumn and the immune system is a bit lowered from all the upsets lately. Hopefully, the acute symptoms will subside within a few days, but you will need to give the full course to prevent a return.

What antibiotic is your vet prescribing? I guess you have also got metacam; your vet is good in giving that, too.

I am sure that your two boys will settle down again and have fun being together!

Just been to the vets with the same thing, came home from work to find my boy Oscar peeing blood, we got Baytril and Metacam. Hope your piggy is ok soon xx

Thanks all

He's on Baytril and Metacam
