This may sound like a silly statement but would you find blood when clearing an abscess? particularly at the end of the abscess? Mr Pig developed a rather nasty one following the lose of one of his bottom incisors. In the gap where his tooth once was.
Under instruction from CCT I have placed Mr Pig on his back every night (he will just lay there now without a wrap) and applied a little pressure and pushed upwards from the base of Mr Pigs incisor roots to Mr Pigs mouth. For several weeks I found varying degrees of pus come up through the cavity. Thick and foul smelling for the most part. Occasionally white and watery. Each session I have removed puss as best I can with tissue and then flushed mouth with water.
Daktarin to follow.
This has appeared to work in riding the abscess but tonight after several days of nothing. I see a blob of puss then blood!
Not loads but enough to think oh? Was this the end of the abscess maybe? (bit like when you pop a spot and you know its gone when it bleeds?)
Or do I need to rush off to the nearest cavy casualty?

I found the same, with past pigs and with Jules here now. I wouldn't worry, just keep checking it twice a day, but hopefully the abscess will heal now the pus has cleared.
