I have just noticed Machu has a bloody nose when I came home from work. I'm thinking it looks like a nip as he also has a gash on his ear so maybe the boys had a little tussle and Machu came off worse despite being the dominant one.

Do you think we need to take action or just leave it to heal?

I would keep a very close eye on them if you do think they’ve had a scuffle. If you see them fighting or find anymore bite marks, I’m afraid you will need to permanently separate them. As for the wound to the nose, you can bathe it with a salt water solution by mixing one teaspoon of salt to one pint of cool boiled water x

Hi

Full-on bites to the mouth/nose are usually defence bites from a cornered piggy that doesn't see any other way out or is having their strong messages to stay away ignored and pushed too far.
Make sure that you do not have any dead ends in the cage or hides with just one exit.

You can separate for a couple of days and do a formal reintro on neutral ground outside the cage. if the bond is still viable, he boys should go back together without a lot of fuss, if not, the grudge will make an appearance very quickly. In the second case you have to accept that the bond is broken.

PS: The correct proportion for homemade saline is 1 teaspoon of salt mixed into 250 ml or half a pint of boiled cooled water. See a vet if you notice any swelling or other sign of infection or if it is more than just a small gash and goes deeper into the mouth/nose.
