I noticed yesterday that Sukie had a little spot on her eye that was blueish . . . not in the middle, but a bit to one side. It looks like it's on the outside of the eye ball.

I was thinking maybe a piece of hay stuck in her eye and injured it or something maybe?

I also noticed one of my rabbits has a blueish tinge over part of her eye, and she's only a baby :(

Can anyone help me figure out what this is, well with Sukie the guinea pig at least, and does it sound like it would be permanent, would it get worse or cause any problems, should she go to a vet?

The eye doesn't seem to be injured or isn't infected or anythind and she's fine in herself and her friend Lola is fine too.

Hmmm I'm not sure. Penelope has red eyes and when she had a hay poke, the whole eye went cloudy (a bit like when a snake is ready to shed its skin, if you know what that looks like?) although it was over her whole eye. Does your piggy have dark eyes?

Yeah, that's what it sounds like Kimberley, only it's only a little dot. Sukie has dark eyes.

Did Penelope's eye go back to normal?

Yes it did after a few days, maybe 4 or 5. We took her to the vets as I didn't know what was wrong, he prescribed a cream which was put into her eye, however I do think it would have gone away on its own as it was just a hay poke. I'll find out what the cream was, back in a tick...

The cream was called Fucithalmic Vet and we had to put it in twice a day to the cloudy eye :) xx

Thanks :) I'll check Sukie's eye again today and see how it is. And maybe I just have to see if it goes away in a few days, hopefully it does.

I'll be at the vet's tomorrow too so can ask about cream for her eye :)

If it's on the outside, than it sounds like an ulcer from a srcatch or a poke to the eye. Please show it to your vet as it can get painful later on, and the sooner it's being treated the better.

Yes that's what I was thinking because one of my cats had an ulcer on his eye like that when I found him as a kitten, the vet said it was probably from a scratch, but his was so bad and infected and everything, and he's now pretyt much blind in that eye, so I know they can get bad.

Luckily Sukie's isn't sore like that right now, but I'll ask the vet will I bring her in. See my vet only works with small animals some days, so I'll have to ask her can I bring her in during the week, or what she thinks. I'll let ye know how it goes, I'm sure she'll be fine though as it doesn't seem very bad, so hopefully will get better soon. :)

I agree that it is worth having it checked out, just to be sure it's not a result of an injury/scratch etc. The bluish tinge can be along the lines of cataracts, but it does appear when there is/has been injury too. Sorry I can't be of more use!
