A girl who lives near me needs to rehome 5 guinea pigs.
3 boars and 2 sows.
I am considering taking a couple, I haven't seen them yet.
Can you keep boars and sows in the same room?
Or, will it cause my 2 boys to fight.
If I got the boars, I would have to take 3 as I wouldn't want to split them up.
It will be after half term before I can do anything.
Any advice please
Anne.

It depends on the indevidual Boars,I have quite a few Boar Pairs in with the sows and they are fine but I have also had other Pairs in and had to send them up to my sisters because they where getting grumpy with eachother

Thanks for that Graham. O0
I wouldn't want to end up putting them in another room.
Hubby would freak.

This is the same problem I would encounter were I to neuter Timmy and get him a sow, my other boars may go bonkers and all hell will break loose or maybe they won`t. It`s chancy I would say ::)

All my rescue boars (pairs) are kept in the same shed as girls, I don't have the luxury of choice :) I've only had trouble with a couple of holiday boars that were ok in a pair at home but got a bit excited when they smelt the girls. The first day was a bit traumatic (for me!) but after they'd got used to it all they were more interested in getting at the girls than in fighting each other.
Sometimes when I get a new boar(s) in though the others seem to go all on edge for a while, but it settles- it has to.

I find that my lot get excited if i bring a new Boar or sow in.the wheeking that goes on you would think they where all shouting hello to the newbie ;D

I havent really had any problems with my boars and sows they all live in the same shed. Ronald and Donald love each other too much to be concerned about any other piggies and my 3 boars just get on with it. Basil my new lone boar was getting rather excited at the site of Amber who thought it would be a good idea to wind the poor lad up by sitting next to the door insight of Basil ::) so he now has a curtain covering that end and he is fine with that.

My second biggest bedroom is my Piggy Room and I have all my piggies in there! I haven't had any problems with girls and boys in the same room. I have a group of six girls, a group of three girls, a group of three boys and four pairs of boys. Its very noisy in there at times but no problems! :D

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Anne. :)
