Hi,

Got a wee query, as i have posted elsewhere, we got our third piggy recently. He is a wee Boar and we also have two sows. The sows are quite quiet and when we sit them on our knees they look petrified. when we feed them they make the odd wheek but generally they are quiet.

However our wee boar is bonkers. He wheeks whenever someone is near looking for attention, he pop corns all the time and he is generally a little buzz bomb. Unfortunately he gets the snip on Monday so i hope he doesnt loss his mojo.

Back to the original point, are boars more fun than sows or are mine just a wee bit shy?

PS the three of them are fantastic ;D ;D

I have six boars and four of them are crazy! Eccles and Milo are very gentle and lovely boys.

My four sows, one is a mentalist Pearl she popcorns at thin air. Amber is so calm. Flora and Fleur are less trusting but do come around when you hold them.

I think it just goes by the pigs. My girls are very funny, my boys are more loving. :)

My Boar Sammy has taken to sitting on top of his pigloo and popcorning off it when anyone comes close to his house 98)

I've only ever had boars, but like S&T, I think it's down to each piggy's personality. At the moment I've got Garry who is as quiet as anything when he knows anyone is watching and he'll run into his pigloo and hide. But he sits for a cuddle and likes it and he'll popcorn and race round the cage like a mad thing (I've seen him, he just doesn't know!). Minty is very cocky - he's a secret popcorner (far too cool to do it in public). He'll come to see anyone who happens to rustle a bag. Doesn't like people touching him, more than a rub on the head, but only if he's in the right mood.

Benjamin is a definite boss pig, but is such a wimp. He's a nightmare to get hold of and he'll only sit for about 5 minutes for a cuddle before he starts nipping to go home. That is unless there is food in the offing! Every time someone walks past the dining room door, he's up on his hind legs looking for them and hoping they're bringing food...he's a bar chewer too...talk about guilt trip! His cagemate Dave is the new boy, but he's a confident boy who likes his cuddles and will stand while you pick him up. He likes doing laps round the cage and popcorning by the hayrack - Benjamin tries too, but he's twice the size of Dave and is quite funny to watch!

I love them all and they definitely develop more quirks over time...Dave is picking up Benjamin's bad habits already...it's like 'me and my shadow' in there! ;D

i find my girls though quiet love their cuddles and will sit with us for ages being cuddled. the squeak when they hear the fridge open or a bag rustle. and jessie is a md thing and runs around her cage. so like said it depends on the piggy and their personalities. i prefer quiet cuddly ones and that's my girls :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I have some very confident loud sows, but on the whole my boars have been more confidient. I think all pigs are different though. One thing they all have in common is desperation for food - my boar nearly jumped out of his hutch to get some grass this evening ;D
