My older pig, Linney, is about 5.5 years old now... maybe a little older. Recently, I have noticed that, although her weight is not much different, it seems like she is carrying her weight more in her belly. When she stands, she looks/feels thinner. She feels the same as always when she is lying down (and her fat spreads out, for lack of a better descriptor.) Is this a normal part of aging? I realize she getting to be an old lady pig. Behaviourally she seems normal, eats, sleeps, begs for food, etc. Any insight on this from those who have had senior piggies?

It is normal for older piggies that they get bonier and have a more prominent spine and hips. They also tend to lose a bit of weight, very gradually, as they are losing the extra fat. Older piggies sleep more.

I have a few of them here!

Thanks- that's exactly what it is, her spine and pelvis feel more prominent than they used to, or than they feel on my younger pig. She has lost a little bit of weight very gradually, but is still a big pig (not necessarily fat, but has always been bigger-built with a broad head, broad shoulders, etc.) I guess she is just getting up there... not sure that I like that idea!
