My new, bigger cage arrived this morning, so I have begun bonding my single boar (Sweep) with my existing pair (Chewy and Spike).
I put them out in a large run which they loved (first time on grass this year!) so they were pretty distracted with eating grass :) Spike and Sweep showed a lot of interest in each other - the odd bit of rumbling and chattering, but nothing much. In the end they went into one of the shelters together and sat side by side :) But Chewy kept to himself then after a while came out and chattered his teeth at them both then went and hid again. He is a bit of an antisocial pig and was the same when I introduced him to Spike.
So now I have put them into the new cage with pigloos etc all washed out. Chewy is still being a grouch, but mostly keeping to himself. Sweep seems fairly laid back but Spike just won't leave him alone and follows him everywhere - sometimes it seems just being friendly but sometimes being fairly pushy. Its strange because they both went into the largest house together and they kept chattering at each other so I would lift the side up so one could runout, but they would both instantly go quiet and stop still as though they wern't doing anything. Then I'd put the house back down and after a few inutes they would start up again but neither would come out. ?
Anyway, I just have my fingers crossed that it goes well tonight. There has been no outright agression so I hope it will just be a period of establishing who's who and settling down.

By the sounds of it, its going well so far. god luck though. Keep us posted. xx

Wish you luck.

I had three boars together when they were little. All seemed well untill i went to see them one day and there had been a mighty bust up between two of them! They were in different corners with bloody noses. Third pig had kept out of it. Had to remove one pig. The other two have been happy together.

Had other male "done" and he lives with girls now. So all happy.

Its not as hard as it normally sounds to bond up boars ::)
The chattering will stop if you interfere as they are just trying to find out whos gonna be the new boss cause there characters may change as a new boar has come into town ;D so one will act all big and the others may try and fight him off and stuff but the boss pig will stand out and make his ground whoever and whichever one it will be but I'm sure theyll all still get on great together

Good Luck :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

This morning all was quiet - they were all in their own houses, but that seems to be how all my guinea pigs like to spend a lot of their time ::) When I put in some greens (lots of bits, all spread around) there was a bit of argy bargy! But nothing much. So I think - fingers crossed! - its looking quite hopeful!

Oooooh fingers crossed with the bonding :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
