Senior Guinea Pig
Well... I went ahead with the attempt to bond Luna and Lavender, with Clover, Theo, Blodwen, Piggle and Puggle, yesterday.
And... now I can't go back on it because after a very positive start, 2 hours in, Lavender attacked her friend Luna! A sudden explosion of racing wheeking snarling fury... Clover and Blod stepped in the protect Luna.... Lavender got all fear aggressive and attacked everyone...
Then Lavender sort of lay down and cried and cried wheeking a sad lonely lament cos she realised she got it all wrong but she hates open spaces like the bonding pen and hates hoomans watching her and she just freaked out...
So no way back for big lilac bum Lavender, Luna has joined the herd, so we took a chance and put them all in the clean cage, its actually bigger than the bonding pen but more prey animal friendly being L shaped and against the wall. No hideys anyone can get cornered in, just fleece and loads of hay. Instant calm but a few grudges.
And... its a maybe, like one one of those live action role player games that lasts for weeks.
The old queen Clover isnt speaking to the lilac challenger queen Lavender, but nevertheless seems to be enjoying herself. The old queen is occupying the fleecy 5x2 East wing, attended by Blod, Piggle, Puggle and Theo.
The lilac usurper Lavender is... very embarassed and a bit nervous, and occupying the far corner of the hay room and the 3x2 North wing if no other pigs are there. She is tolerating inquisitive visits from Piggle and Puggle from a safe distance as long as she is under a hay pile. Blod invaded today and took an intense passive-aggressive nap only a foot away and that was ok. Theo is Lavender's friend and she is getting used to him.
Luna the elderly princess who switched allegiance is mostly marvelling over the fact there is a 3x2 hay room just for hay burrowing, and is being escorted everywhere by handsome Prince Theo and visited by her new ladies in waiting Blod, Piggle and Puggle. She goes and stands by Lavender sometimes and wheeks at her and chatters her teeth.
Prince Theo is hopeful but exhausted because there are 6 ladies who all need worshipping and guarding and their faces licking all at once and two of them won't go within 10 feet of each other, its hard work but Theo is loyal to everyone and he wants all the ladies to be happy! He keeps subtly herding them closer together so he doesnt have to run so far.
So... maybe? No blood and no vet trips, but I darent put Lavender and Luna back together alone, Lavender doesnt realise how big she is and how old poor Luna is... its all a slow burner, that will either settle or explode...!
I think... Lavender and Clover are actually fascinated by each other because they keep slowly sneaking up to sniff each other's cage area then scuttling off...
The tudor court has nothing on the intrigue and shifting allegiance in the pig room, Theo would also like to point out that he has 6 wives ALL AT ONCE and Henry VIII couldnt manage that many even one at a time... Theo is the best husboar ever and would like a Nobel peace prize made of carrots please!
