Junior Guinea Pig
After the sad and failed attempt at bonding with little Koki
, I'm happy to say that Bijou is now on his third positive day of bonding with a new friend!
I had been observing several guinea pigs at a store for days. Sadly, they were all in awful conditions, crammed into a wire cage on the street. But among them, only ONE stood out. He was the only one walking upright, nibbling on dry food, drinking water, and peeing. Every time I passed by, he’d come over and lick my finger!
I finally asked the store owner if I could examine him up close. I checked his teeth, eyes, nails, skin, and nose, everything seemed healthy, though he’s clearly very malnourished. And to my relief, he’s a boy!
I brought him home on Friday and took him straight to the vet. He’s mildly anemic but nothing serious, thank goodness! He does have hay mites, so both he and Bijou are starting treatment.
As for the bonding, Bijou and his new friend, Moses, are getting along wonderfully! They seem like a perfect match, showing each other respect and affection. Bijou’s already licked him several times and is being super gentle and attentive. I’m not sure of Moses’s exact age, maybe 1 to 3 months, but he’s full of life: running, screaming happily, lots of talking to Bijou (a great sign!), eating, peeing, and pooping like a healthy little potato.
Fingers crossed it keeps going this well in the coming days!

I couldn't help but share a photo of Bode (Ramses), who is currently alone, he lives next to Bijou!
