Adult Guinea Pig
One of Milans eyes has got increasingly cloudy over the last few months. Originally we thought it was his cataracts worsening until recently we noticed something wasnt right. His eye has deteriorated very quickly in the last 2-3 months.
We took milan to the vet regarding his eye when we first realised that it was not his cararacts about 2 months ago. The vet did different tests and had no idea what was wrong. She did however state that it does not seem to cause any pain or irritation and therefore we were not in a huge rush to find out what was wrong. We were refferred to an eye specialist and today got his diagnosis- bone formation in his eye! Apparently its caused from excess vitamin C and is very rare! The vet said theres not much that can be done to prevent as decreasing vitamin C is not recommended. The specialist said that it should never cause any problems for milan and we are to just monitor it. There is no treatment. Here is his eye at present after continuing to worsen
