Boris has an abscess

You could syringe feed it instead, as long as it's easy to figure out an accurate dosage. It's apparently best to give probiotics 1-2 hrs after the antibiotics but I guess this rule goes out the window after it's been in a piggy's system for a while anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Hope they're both back to full health very soon x

Just a quick update

Just a quick update on my poorly pair...

I added the probiotic to the water, but their appetites are so far pretty much unaffected. I think Pippa is actually enjoying the extra treats after the Baytril (which both now hate!) All four are still drinking okay, pretty much the same amounts as normal.

The incision in Pippa's cyst is healing well and starting to close by itself. There has been nothing at all out of it since the vet removed the inital contents so I'm hopeful it will heal well.

The swelling of Boris's abscess had gone down dramatically too. There has been very, very little out if it since it first burst and we managed to get the tiny remaining 'gritty' bits, mainly thanks to Simon taking over (I was too worried about hurting Boris I think ") )

I am going to make an appointment for both of them tomorrow, as I want the vet to give them both the once over to make sure all is clear and clean before I allow both of them to heal.

Hopefully it will be and I will keep both of them on Baytril for another few days (much to their upset no doubt! rolleyes ) to make sure any infections are killed. And even more hopefully, the abscess won't return!

Thanks for a great update Michelle, lovely to hear all is going well for the both of them. I sincerely hope the abscess stays away now it's healing up so nicely, will keep my fingers crossed for the next couple of weeks for you.
