Woke up this morning to find a chunk of Blitzen's fur on the floor of the cage. I've checked him over, and I can't find any bites, scratches etc. His butt fur was really manky, but I can't tell if that's from Comet, or from him.

There was a bit of a disagreement going on yesterday - a bit of chasing(mostly Comet chasing Blitzen, but it was on both sides), log tunnels getting upended. Nothing that hasn't happened before. Comet's also a known barberer. Obviously I'll be keeping an eye as much as possible, but is it possible B's just got his own butt in a mess and somehow the knot's been pulled out? Or somebody's barbered it out? It is a sizeable chunk of fur to have come off, otherwise. :/

I can't see any roots from the picture so looks like its been chewed rather than pulled. Is it in a place Blitzen could reach himself? I'd say more likely Comet has been busy hairdressing. Sounds like the boys hormones are high at the moment.
Willow and Bracken were going bonkers at each other last night the rumbling drowned out the DVD we were trying to watch. Loads of mounting and hidies flying no barbering though. Then I don't think either of them stay still long enough for that! When the youngsters start it causes disquiet upstairs with Spike and Peanut, Peanut has a lump of boar glue on his back and the hair is stuck up in the air. Boars - you just got to love them. :hb:

I'm not actually 100% sure where it came from...I mean I'm assuming it's his butt, because that's where he gets the most matted, but I couldn't find anything on B himself to make sure. There was a lot of chasing and rumbling last night but I mean...they're teenage boars, I expect that lol. They were temporarily separated earlier because I put the divider up to stop B doing a runner while I tried to get him out to check him over, and I forgot it was up when I put him back down on the other side. He kept squeaking unhappily til I dropped it. They've both been munching on hay on the same side of the divider (and rumbling at each other too, ofc), but neither is happy to be separated, even accidentally.

Really I'm thinking the random fur clump was just an accident. They're both about 10 months old now, but seeing as they've been patient with each other all morning, maybe I was just being paranoid earlier. I can but hope!

Glad they are happy together now, just a re-affirmation of hirearchy I expect!
Both my boar pairs seem to be well matched (although major fall outs are never guaranteed) the dominance games seem to be just because we're boars and can and think we should most of the time, nothing very vicious. Neither pair seem to have an out and out dominant boar though.
A few years ago I had a middle aged Rex with a young Sheltie. Everytime the youngsters hormones did a spike and he decided it was his turn to take over because the old boy was past it Bumble still managed to keep his place as boss. Once Bumble pulled a lump of Artys hair out by the roots and took some skin with it, that long hair must have been so tempting to pull. This was the only time things got really nasty and it never happened again. I was so pleased I didn't seperate them then. Arty still tried to take over from time to time but was soon put in his place.
Never a dull moment in piggyminding!

Yup. I'm pretty sure Comet is top pig but Blitzen's favourite pastime is rumbling. And I caught him mounting Comet yesterday which is, I think, what set off yesterday's shenanigans. They're both loopy about it mind you. I walked into the room during one hectic chase last night and they both just stopped and stared at me. "We're, uh...just playing. Honest."

I'd miss my backing track of boar rumbles though, I've gotta admit.

Send the "piggy hairdresser" over here and he can barber my hair, he'd probably do a better job than whoever it was that cut my hair this last time. Lol a morning without a Comet and Blitzen shenanigans story just wouldn't be a proper start to the day.

You know, now that I think about it, you're probably right. I'd think something was wrong if they didn't manage to scare the bejeezus out of me in the morning :P I'm glad you all like the stories though, since they seem intent on providing me with new ones regularly lol.

Keep the stories coming. Us bored housewives (or soon to be housewives) need to be entertained.
