My mother fell in love with my piggies and has been looking to get 2 - she wanted to steal mine but i wouldn't let her.
There are a 4 pairs in the running at the moment (she really wants the 2 shetties (sophieW) on this forum - fallen massively in love). She has also seen many other piggies on here girls and boys. We just got a picture of 2 gorgeous little boys!

Mine are all girls, but are there any difference between boys and girl in personalities? which does everyone prefare and why!?!?

Well i have no experience with sows at all but i do have 8 boars and they are all lovely,i have heard many say boars are more cuddly and i would tend to agree, they do on the other hand come with downsides like there "boar scent" but other than that i would say its what suits you better,i do know there are usually more boars in rescue as alot of people want sows and dont give the boars a chance xxxxxxxxxx

We are really torn - and still waiting to hear back regarding a few piggies!
I am forwarding her any responses to!
LOL The **** is my mother has names lined up for girls; daisy and flora, and names for boys; Mr Darcy and George!

i have both and they are all very different - that may not be sex related

my boy is a real character and always a challenge and always fun
does not like being picked up but loves a stroke and tickle. comes to my hand if i call and climbs onto me

the girls are lovely and real girlie girls

love to be held if you can catch then as they run away
once you have them sher love a cuddle

I've had boys and girls (though never two boys together) throughout my life and have no preference; it comes down to the individual character for me.

If you can afford it; travel to meet the guinea pigs in question, see how you feel about them when you handle them (your mother might even fall for something completely different!) - or otherwise throw the dice! Looks are not everything; the way they respond to you often holds a better clue!

Hi, I'm sure both boys and girls are just as much fun and give as much love as each other.

I suppose only disadvantage with the boys is the possible fall out and the disadvantage with the sows are.... if she is already pregnant you get one, get 3 free!

If you are considering getting rescue, then I would consider boars as there seems to be a lot more boars than sows needing homes.

But there are loads of just georgous squidgy cuddly piggies out there, the only thing to watch out for is that you dont get tempted to take on too many! xx

if your mom thinks she might like to add more piggies to the herd, then it's got to be sows!

i have a group of four sows and they get on famously! I've also got one boar, who will get the snip to in with the sows. Has your mom thought of a sow and neutured boar pairing? that can work the best!

i love all my piggies, they're all so different. I couldn't say I prefer boars or sows, I think it just depends on the different personalities of the piggies in question! I have a bossy pig, a day dreaming pig, a shy pig, a really skatty pig and a cheeky pig!

that's the best piece of advice ever! i held ruby (my bossy pig), thinking "eugh, she's got red eyes", but i fell for her as soon as i touched her, she yawned and fell asleep on me! such trust, but never met me before. she had to be mine! i think you get a feeling of love at first sight with the pigs that are meant to be yours usually, I saw my Pheobe's (day dreamer pig) twinkly eyes and fell so head over heels, I had to be her mommy!

I agree totally - we dont choose our piggies - they choose us

I completely agree - it's happened with three of mine, who chose me and not the other way round; and they weren't always the most gorgeous piggies on offer or what I was looking for, either.

You might joke about my guinea pigs looking so similar, but I didn't set out for it to be this way... it somehow just happened! :)):)):))

it is true when a piggy chooses you we normally end up with a better piggy
Both my Boris & Bandit chose me to come to when i met them,
Basil who i took because i felt sorry for still to this day wont eat in front of me and bolts and will not play when I'm around either, his friend Ralph-Saffron who was an only boar of his litter was also more of a "take him so he doesnt go to a bad home piggy" and he only loves me at hug time, neither Basil or Ralph have ever fully trusted me,i have learnt to try to get a piggy that falls for me;)
