Hi everyone

First i appologize all you for my low english skill
But I'm here for save my little girl..
Yesterday i found my girl, named Sonny, showed head tilt and couldnt walk straight..she couldnt control her body

Today i brought her to vat
Took a x-ray and examined ear infection..
But her bone was good and ear also cleaned..

Is it just temporary concussion of brain..?
*actullay she loves jumping her cage..*
And the vat gave us steroid and resistance medicin..
Is it okay to give these pills to Sonny?..

Thank you for read my word..

Picture is Sonny :)

Hi and welcome!

Sonny is a gorgeous piggy!

I am very sorry; if the head tilt and balance issues are caused by a neurological problem then treatment is unfortunately very difficult. The best you can hope for is that it is settling down mostly on its own.

Steroids are to be used in rodents with care and only in specific circumstances.
I am linking @Jaycey @Abi_nurse into this thread. They have the most experience with medications.

Please switch to weighing Sonny once daily at the same time to monitor his food intake. Over 80% of what a guinea pig eats in a day should be hay. You cannot control that by eye.
You may find the tips and information in this link here helpful: Weight - Monitoring and Management

Here is information, which I sincerely hope that you won't need; but in view of the large time difference (we are UK based), you may find the information in this link here helpful if Sonny is suddenly taking a turn for the worse at some point and you are unable to see a vet straight away. Emergency, Crisis and Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment

Hi! :)
Really appreciate your advice..it's really helpfull me
I'll stop give a steroid to her and keep the cage cool.. beacuse it is really hot in Korea thesedays..
I used the oral steroid this morning. this time is first and last.. I hope she's okay:(
I feel uncomfortable because I haven't been taking care of her all day while I'm at work..

All the best!

Here is our comprehensive guide on keeping guinea pigs cool. In tropical countries, guinea pigs are of course used to higher temperatures, but they still suffer the same during heat spikes and profit from the same measures: Hot Weather Management, Heat Strokes and Fly Strike

In some - often terminal cases - an exotics vet can decide that the benefits of steroids can outweigh the risks of giving oral or injected steroids. Steroids in eye treatment are still debated as they do not enter the body. But steroids do work differently in rodents than in cats or dogs and should only be prescribed with that in mind. You may want to discuss with your vet the reason why they have prescribed them.
