Hello everyone,

After noticing a weight loss in Brillo this week, and slightly runny eyes and nose, I took him to see a vet this evening.

After doing checks, she said his lungs sounded clear, which I was relieved about. However she did discover some dental issues,

His lower teeth have grown at a weird angle causing them to meet in the middle?

Before he lost any more weight she booked him in for an op to sort this tomorrow morning. Brillo is my last piggie and my first piggie to ever have an op! I'm extremely worried! I've moved him indoors so I can monitor poo's and food and drink intake as close as possible.

I'm taking in some of his favourite foods for them to give him when he comes round, to encourage him to eat as soon as possible.

They said they would give him painkillers to come home with, and hes had antibiotics tonight, which they'll also give him tomorrow.

Worried isn't the word.

Aww good luck little man. I totally understand how worried you are. I have you both in my thoughts.

Thank you!

I've just got back from taking him in. Nervous day ahead!
I'm planning on sorting through everything and preparing to re-decorate my bedroom to keep my mind off things! I don't do things by halves! :xd:

Just wanted to say I will be thinking of you today, ( as I am with @Flutterby who has one of her piggies undergoing surgery today also) i will be keeping a look out for an update on how the dental surgery has gone, good luck Brillo
Kell.

Had a phone call from the vets. He's okay but still a bit sleepy and drowsy. They will keep him until this evening to make sure he eats and poos before he comes home. I took his favourite food in a little bag with him this morning. Fingers crossed he eats!

@ayemee glad to know Brillo is doing well. This is the exact same phone call I had earlier, ok but sleepy and drowsy xx

Fab news, glad to hear he's ok. Flutterby had to send Mario with a pignic too :)

Just rang, he's okay. Still not really eaten though so I need to syringe feed him every 2 hours.

Me too piggyfan! I'm going to leave him with the vet nurses for another hour or so to give him a chance on his own. If not it will be two hourly feeds tonight! More than happy to do it though,

He should pick up soon. I have my fingers crossed for him. Mario had to stay extra as he was groggy but he's picked at food and he's pooing like a trooper. Hopefully Brillo will be doing so soon! :)

I've got him! Still not eaten :(

The vet said his teeth are pretty bad in genetic terms, and his toungue is a little sore.

She said he perked up from the anesthetic straight away which surprised her!

I've been given Baytril and inflacam to give him daily for the next 5 days. Going back tomorrow to make sure he's okay.

Edit; I'm off to buy some vegetable baby purée to try and get him going again as suggested by the vet.
