Smudge has broken one of his top teeth (its snapped off about half way up). He's eating perfectly normal and seems ok in himself.

Am I doing the right thing by not taking him to the vet straight away? Obviously I'll keep a close eye on it to make sure its growing normally, and will take him to the vet at the first sign of trouble (ie not eating or behaviour change).

Thanks x

I wouldn't worry. That tooth will grow back extremely quickly and as long as he's eating and drinking and not losing weight don't waste your money on a vet visit lol!:(|)

I don't mind the cost of the vets if that's what he needs, its more the stress for him. Although he's really friendly and loves human contact, he's a live one and hates being restrained, especially if something is being done to him. I didn't want to put him through the ordeal if it wasn't necessary at this point.

This is a first for me as a piggy mummy and even though I know it should grow back, I think I just needed some reassurance! Thanks :)

One of my Boars did this once didn't affect him at all and soon leveled up to his other tooth again xx

I had a piggie a few weeks back with the same thing. She was eating and seemed ok. I just kept my eye on her and the tooth grew back within 2 weeks so I wouldn't bother going to the vets as they will tell you the same thing.

And charge you a consultation fee for the privilege! rolleyes

You should be fine, I took Bumble when her's broke but it was above the gumline so wanted to make sure there was no damage to the gum that would affect her. I think it took about two weeks for the tooth to grow back and everything was fine
