Does anyone have any experience of this food? The website says:

Country Value Guinea Pig nuggets are delicious and healthy fruity shapes that are nutritionally balanced with a mixture of fibre vitamins and minerals. They are designed to prevent help prevent selective feeding and promote healthy digestion and should be fed alongside fresh hay and water.

I have only ever used Burgess Excel Tasty Nuggets.

Is it better or worse?

O.o I only use the excel tasty nuggets.
I wonder if they are better

Most of the burgess excel are high in calcium (which is why I no longer feed them to my bladder sludge and kidney stone pig/ pigs).I would be interested to see the calcium content per kg on them.

I have a bag here I got it to try, but now I only use it as a treat like a handful once a month to forage. They do eat it. I think they are lower in fibre etc than the normal excel, it smells quite like banana.
I will have a look at the pack after I've had my tea and let you know what it says on the back.

Fibre: 16%
Calcium is 2.45mg/kg which I think works out lower than the 0.9% in normal excel (haven't worked it out properly)

TAN which food do you buy?[/quote]

I buy Vetcare multimodal plus food from VETuk on line - It was recommended to me by my Vet (the exotics specialist one ) - as she has 5 pigs of her own ,3 of who have bladder issues - it has 0.8g of calcium ,cranberry (an anti-oxidant) ,extract of dandelion & nettle (which are natural diuretics) - it costs £5.99 with £1.99 postage for 1kg - the nearest other low food that is very similar is fibrefirst - fibrefirst also looks like long thin bits of shredded wheat - that one costs £3.50 for 350gs - so its still cheaper to but 1kg with postage from Vetuk - mine prefer the fibrefirst one,but that doesn't stop Bumble from still squueking a little - the Vetcare stops the squeeking completely - so to my mind the cranberries, nettle & dandelion do help - I also syringe feed extra water to Bumble because he would drink much less otherwise - he is a lazy boar - will take 6 or 7 syringe fulls of water if you gave them to him,but using a drinking bottle or bowl is tooo much effort.

According to my food supplier the country value range is designed to get people of muesli. It's designed to be bright to get people to make the move. It replaced supa guinea excel. I don't feed burgess here either but when it came in she asked if I wanted a bag I declined as not keen on coloured food.

@TAN Just out of interest do all your pigs eat fibafirst if you give it to them? Mine won't touch it, they had an initial sniff and a nibble but won't touch it since. Worked out the amount of calcium for the other stuff, and it seems to be 0.00245g/kg which seems pretty low- but it isn't one I would feed daily

Mine have fibre first as a treat and go mad for it. Think out of 24 I have 1 who doesn't like them :)

Initially when I offered it to the girls they went mad and did eat one. Any other time since they literally turn their nose up at it, and if I break one up in their food bowl it is just eaten around.

All of mine eat the fibrefirst and prefer it over the Vetcare one - but if given the choice they would all eat supreme science nuggets - so the fibrefirst and vetcare multimodal only gets given to Bumble and his two wifepigs - as being in the same cage they all have to eat the same food - everyone else gets supreme science ,as this only has about 1 or 2.5 g of calcium and they all love it - its a bit like children really - not giving them sweets and giving them veg because its healthy.

The calcium and protein content of country value interests me as they're lower than dearer foods

I will avoid Country Value due to the mollasses. I just gave the pigs their first try of JR Grainless from Zooplus. It went down well - they have been zooming all over the living room for about 15 minutes xD

Burgess excel both flavours also contain molasses interesting pets at home, science selective, mr johnsons and harringtons appear not to at first glance. Not much choice in the shops around here of food the above is about as good as it gets would be lovely if there were more foods in the shops. Saw burgess excel food cubes for £3 a box in town earlier which is far better than the prices elsewhere.

Feeding animals is a total minefield, same with all species ... sigh nothing is ever easy

I think best diet is hay and veggies with a few pellets in winter for extra bulk, just stick to one with lower levels. I have kept piggies for over 20 years and until December last year never had a problem with bladder stones etc... And this was a rescue I took in who had been fed wagg and not a lot else.
