I think I’ve found an alternative (short term) hay in the above. It’s nowhere near as green as my preferred choice of the timothyhay.co.uk site but the girls have given it an ‘ok’ rating!

Here’s a pic to show the difference.

Burgess used to be much greener but this past year their hay always seems to be really yellow. Even allowing for different harvests etc it seems to be a problem.

Then of course you get the rabbit owners complaining when it's softer and less crunchy :td:

Well I certainly won't be using this long term - at £7 per kg with 5 girls, it won't last very long! Just wanted something in case my preferred choice actually ran out before I manage to order some more in, as the girls seem to have gone off eating the standard meadow hay I give them, in preference to the timothy.

I used to feed my boys the Burgess Dandelion and Marigold exclusively because although expensive, they loved it and it was worth it because they'd eat it. I switched to Nature's Own eventually though because the quality of the Burgess never seemed to be getting better again

Yep, it's great when you find something they'll gobble up and not end up throwing most of it away the next day. Not really seen Nature's Own about - nice to have another recommended brand in the wings though!

My piggies LOVE natures own Timothy rich hay! It smells lovely. I have to refill the hay rack three times a day and that's two piggies! If you shop at The Range they get offers on them. That's my feeding hay, I use meadow hay from country store as bedding.
I was also disappointed with how dull the Burgess hay looked. Obviously, they ate it, but not buying it again.
