Hi all,

I've fed my pigs on burgess for a while now but I've noticed with the last 2/3 10kg bags that it has become really dusty. I thought at first maybe it was a problem batch but it doesn't seem any better 2 bags later.

A bit of dust in unavoidable but every scoop of food seems to contain dust and theres always dust in the pigs bowls.

Are other nugget feeds just as bad?

I've recently been thinking of changing feeds, but as burgess seems to be marketed as the best g.pig food I'm worried I'd be doing the wrong thing for my pigs by changing foods.

Does anyone have any thoughts on quality of burgess or good alternatives?

i use a variety ! harringtons, burgess, selective, rosewood grain free, johnsons advance on vet uk,are the ones i use and rotate.i do not want my piggies fixated on one pellet.you can source all these on the internet ,all come in 10kg bags.:)

I've only bought 2 bags of Burgess blackcurrant and oregano and my piggies seem to have gone off it 3/4 through the first. Mine wasn't too dusty but I've now got Mr Johnsons advance, and the dust seems to be at the bottom of that too.

I feed Chock the mint vertion of this food and its much less dusty over the black current ones i've found...

I found this as well with the burgess pellets! I moved my guinea pigs on the burgess pellets from the harringtons pellets because I had heard that burgess was really good (I had nothing wrong with the Harrington's, piggies loved them!)

When I first put them onto the Burgess they liked them but didn't seem to like them as much as the Harrington's but I kept them on them as I knew they were the best for them until I realised they had become really dusty and I found a large chunk inside the pellet bag. It was almost like a large chunk made up of dust and parts of pellets which left some of the pellets not looking very nice so I decided to move them onto The Rosewoods Meadow Menu pellets which are AMAZING!

All the ingredience are natural and are grain free! They are also cold pressed basically meaning the nutrition isn't lost plus the guineas LOVE them!

I've not had the dust isssue with the mint ones for Chock at all
He's on the mint ones though

I feed my girls the mint ones in a mix with asda pellets and the burgess don't seem very dusty!

Mine have had burgess before and liked it and also science selective but they're on oxbow cavy cuisine just now and they love it

I wish mine would eat the cavy cuisine! I bough a bag and they absolutely will not touch it!

I have the Burgess one for my guinea pig. He absolutely goes crazy for them, like it's pure sugar or something! We switched him over from Pets At Home nuggets a few years ago, after reading it is a much better food. First day of being swapped over to new pellets (over a couple of weeks), the Burgess ones were all gone :)!

I order my nuggets off Amazon and I haven't ever had a problem with Burgess from Amazon. The hays are much greener than from my local Pets At Home as well. They have got slightly dustier, but I think that's just from the bags being moved about a lot and it causing them to be grinded up a bit. Also, my nugget tub is never completely empty, so it could just falling to the bottom from over the last few months. Oreo has a mixture of the mint and blackcurrant nuggets to keep him a bit more interested and have a bit more choice of flavour.
