I had to pop in to pets at home to get some nuggets and saw a bag of Burgess Excel Sensitive Nuggets - anyone know what the are? They were on the same shelf as the Excel original & Excel blackcurrant & Oregano.

I can't find any info on the burgess site about them and have also searched pets at home website but they dont show them as available to buy :(

I didn't buy any - i had a quick scan over the packaging, but couldn't see anything that would suggest what their intended use was......

Found some info via VetUK:

Burgess Excel Sensitive Nuggets for Guinea Pigs is a grain free complementary food for guinea pigs with a sensitive digestion.

Contains 25% crude fibre
Longer fibre to help dental wear
Prebiotic for digestive health
Prevents selective feeding
Natural antioxidants to support the immune system
Added mint helps digestion and makes the food delicious to your guinea

Would the sensitive Burgess be a better substitute from the normal burgess nuggets? Especially if its good for digestion

Burgess keep having random products pop up !

Did anyone else see the mint one's ? there apparently good for digestion and things too,

Ohh, i have a packet of mint ones but it doesn't look like that ?
i have a packet of the black current and oregano too,
This must be different as the ones i have aren't called sensitive ?

The normal nuggets have changed at little and have the mint added. The sensitive nuggets seem to be new. They also recently added food cubes as well which look interesting.

I've ordered myself some cubes although this will not be used as a complete food, just wanted to try them for variety as well as the sensitive nuggets.

They are the one's we are discussing - sensitive nuggets have mint in them. :)

I think (it's hard to tell!) the ones with mint in are a varient/replacement of the normal excel nuggets? The sensitive ones, also with mint, appear to be a different product. Although looking at the replies to emails sent to Burgess on this thread, no one really knows what's going on, even them! http://theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=82045

Incidentally, if you do a google image search for "burgess excel with mint", there's a couple of rather familiar looking pigs on the 13th row down! :))

hahaha - I spot my Patrick and Sodapops pig! x

The Burgess excel 'with mint' is the same as the original I believe they've just put it on the packaging to get more customers, along with changing the colour of the packaging (don't like it, looks like mustard :( )

lol - famous pigs.....

Let us know what the new nuggets are like :) Would be interesting to know whether they can be fed as a main 'all-the-time' food or whether they are best kept as an occassional food?

We had the debate about the original ones and the 'new' mint ones a while back - turns out there was no difference, just that Burgess had decided to tell people their original nuggets had mint in them. These 'Sensitive' nuggets are a completely different nugget. In my local pets at home they had the excel original (with mint) the blackcurrant and oregano ones and then next to that they had the Excel Sensitive ones.

I think it can be fed as daily feed saying that my Patrick only gets a tablespoon of pellets a day, I guess it is a treat anyway :)). x

We've been buying the sensitive nuggets for our pigs for a while but our local pets at home has stopped stocking them. Can't see them for sale on the Burgess website either. We ordered some supreme science nuggets instead but I've noticed these seem to be alfalfa based. As one of our pigs is prone to bladder problems should we be giving him this?
