A sow of one of my friends was recently bought into the vets with queried ovarian cysts.

The vet proceeded to burst the cyst in the consult room with no pain relief or anaesthetic (which sounds extremely wrong to me!)

They were very vague on next steps and now we are wondering whether there's an infection risk with the fluid not being drained.

We are seeking a second opinion but want to know if anyone had any experience with this and whether it is the right protocol?

That does sound wrong and very painful. Have they been given painkillers ? Did they burst it with a needle? I don’t have any experience of cysts sorry. Good luck. I hope this piggy is ok.

I'm no expert, as I've not owned sows. But this doesn't sound right at all. And I would be interested to know how this was performed externally?
Hope the piggy is ok. Have you any updates on how she is doing now?

That sounds horrific, how is the piggie in question? Hope she is ok 😞
