I thought it‘s finally time to start a thread for our piggy tribe.

Buttons & Pewter
The two girls came to us at the beginning of May this year. We got them from a family who were unlucky enough to have 2 pregnant pet shop sows. So they aren’t technically sisters but I still like to call them that.

Unfortunately, their relationship has never been as good as I would’ve hoped as both of them are pretty dominant. They tolerate each other’s presence and happily share a food bowl at dinner time. Some days it even appears as if they‘d like each other. Thankfully, they won’t have to be together for the rest of their lives as they will be paired with a neutered boar each.

(Pewter left & Buttons right; This is literally the best picture I have of them together because the only time they can be found in the same place is when they‘re eating or bickering 😂)

And here she is enjoying a rare cuddle (she much prefers floor time):

Benito & Cornelius
As some of you will already know, Buttons came to us pregnant and gave birth to two baby boys almost 4 weeks ago. Benito and Cornelius are currently living together in their own cage and enjoying their bachelor life. Once neutered and safe they will hopefully be great husbands to our sows.

They are absolutely gorgeous😍
I think you should tell Lord Cornelius Pigglesworth that he would make a very good hedgehog😂🦔🦔!

I figured it‘s time for a little update! The piggies are very well and are happily bumbling about doing important piggy stuff. We had a very hormonal teenage Pewter - poor Buttons didn’t know what hit her half the time! 🙄 The boys are getting really big, both already weighing just over 500g at 8 weeks. They’ve turned out to be real characters with lovely personalities!
Doesn‘t she just have the cutest lips?

Cornelius has a new cuddle buddy which we won at a raffle of the Wonkey Donkey Sanctuary in Knottingley :luv::luv:8AA7E9DC-737C-4D40-8215-F643D0C49AB5.webp

Thank you! The boys are so big already, they‘re going to be bigger than their mum soon if they continue like this :)) They are such loving little babies too, always coming to the bars saying hello and giving lots of piggy kisses.

Absolutely gorgeous piggies! They are so sweet! ❤️😻

You have managed to get some stunning facial expressions on the piggies in the photos. They are just lovely.

It‘s been a while since I was on here! I started my new job at the beginning of September so the last couple of weeks were full of getting into work again.

The piggies are all doing very well! The boys are thriving - they are 11 weeks old on Monday, they have gained another 120g (620g) since the last update 😂 they are starting to show some dominance but for now it‘s just a little bit of chasing and mild teeth chattering. I‘m still hopeful that they‘ll be good boys and behave until we got them neutered and in their final pairs. The girls are bickering as per usual :)) but overall they‘re getting on well. Pewter has reached the 1000g mark - she‘s very proud of this - and Buttons is also gaining weight (finally!). She‘s now at 850g and on occasion we‘re allowed to pet her in the cage. She‘s started to enjoy lap time a lot more but needs Pewter for moral support :))

Now, enough blabla - here are some pigtures:9E594015-814C-4FF7-97E8-0E3D949EE40B.webp6E41F791-78C4-44EA-B267-0ACF3ECA73AA.webp

NSFW pigture incoming! Benito is very proud of his newly acquired manhood so these are my views while working from home

So so beautiful all of them  May I ask how come you’re going to split up the pairs if they get on?

So so beautiful all of them  May I ask how come you’re going to split up the pairs if they get on?
Thank you  Of course! We unfortunately haven’t got enough space for a big enough cage for 2 boars and we also don’t really have enough room to keep the boys out of sight and smell from the girls. They‘re currently still next to each other which seems to be working fine for now and will temporarily move into the kitchen if it needs to be. So we have decided to make boy/girl pairs that can happily live in adjoining cages 😊

Could you have space to build a 2x5 c&c? And you could stack the cages Ruth the girls at the bottom.

I hope they bond well. Just be prepared with plan B in case. Pewter is :wub::wub: I have a soft spot for grey agoutis!

We will definitely work out a plan B before we try to bond. I’m sure we could come up with something to make it work if it needs to be though! It would probably involve some creativity from my OH and moving furniture but hey, everything for the piggies :)) I am hopeful for the bonding though, Pewter & Benito seem to have developed a little romance through the cage bars (the other day I caught them grooming each other through the bars ) and Buttons & Cornelius also seem to be taking well to each other through the bars (I think Buttons interacts more with Cornelius than she does with Pewter :))). I keep spying on them to get an idea of who I should bond with who, I’m almost a piggy stalker :)):))

Pewter is gorgeous, I too have a very soft spot for grey agoutis :wub:

A quick hello from us! We haven’t been online a lot lately, work has been quite time consuming and a few house improvements took over the rest of the time.

But here we are with another little piggie squad update. They are all doing very well with Pewter very much still being the queen :)):)) Buttons has made amazing progress in the past couple of months - she‘s now just above the 900g mark and absolutely thriving. Since she‘s gained some weight her personality has really started to come through and she‘s decided that we can be trusted! She‘s the most gentle and loving soul with us but quite cheeky (and sometimes very feisty) with Pewter. Their relationship has sadly got quite tense since Buttons has gained some confidence but they still accept each other as cage mates. They also don’t have to live together for too much longer so I‘m sure everything will work out just fine :luv:

Which brings me to the boys! They are two cheeky monkeys and definitely keep us on our toes :)) they are 3.5 months old now and are already nearing the 750g mark! They always come to the bars to say hello and are generally the sweetest boys. Cornelius is a bit of a repeat offender when it comes to peeing and therefore no longer allowed on sofas and blankets without some fleece fabric:)):)) they also have their vet appointment on Weds - he‘s going to check if they‘re ready for neutering and, if they are, they‘ll go straight under. I‘m a little nervous about it but they‘re strong and healthy boys so I‘m hoping it‘ll go without problems!
