I posted about Buzzy getting a new friend in this thread http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=86876 and was so chuffed that he and Archie were getting on ............ well very sadly I spoke too soon. Archie and Buzzy had a fight, drawing blood and leaving two piggies (and me) very upset! It's such a shame as Archie was lovely but even separated neither pig was happy. :0

Joanne at Milhaven was very supportive and said we could bring Archie back to rescue and try dating again for Buzzy. We came home with Hogan and took things really slowly, watching them carefully with towel at the ready. After a week all seemed to be going well but then we came home and the boys had been fighting with both having little injuries. I wanted to give them every chance to be together so I gave them a buddy bath and for an hour or so afterwards they were the best of buddies but sadly it didn't last.

Having watched them I think the problem is that Buzzy finds it hard to share food (even when there are lots of bowls). When his friend Woody was poorly with his dental problems I had to feed them separately so Woody could have time to eat. Buzzy must have got used to having his food all to himself and so found it hard to share with a new piggy. :(

Hogan, though had captured our hearts and we couldn't give him up! So I've adapted the C&C putting them side by side with their own base and mezanine level. They both seem really happy now, popcorning and wheeking and are very often found sitting next to each other by the grid divide. Hogan's personality is starting to come out and he is such a little sweetie but very cheeky too. Buzzy still has his teddy which he snuggles up to but he is much more lively and more himself now he has Hogan next to him. :)

Thank you Joanne for being so patient and helpful with us. :)p

The lovely Hogan......

Awww, they look much happier now. Hogan is looking very pleased with himself. :)) I'm always happy to help wherever possible, sadly we can never know how the piggies will react when away from us and sometimes they just decide they really dont like each other, even when they have been fine for a while. I'm so pleased though that we never got to 'plan C'. :)

Thanks Joanne, the arrangements seems to be fine and the main thing is that they are happy and settled. I'll post some photos of their new set-up when I get round to taking some.
You can just see a little mark on Hogan's nose, that was his injury and it's healed up now thank goodness.

By the way, little Archie (as he has now become known!) is booked in at the vets this week for a little operation. :x He has tried bonding with every other boar in the rescue without success. (And a couple of others outside the rescue!) So, all being well in 6 weeks time he may be looking for a wife pig.

Best of luck that all boars end up happy! Bonding can be such a fiddly business; you can never truly tell!

Awww bless him, I hope all goes well for him and he finds a wife pig soon. :)

Buzzy stopped wheeking & popcorning when we lost Woody and it's so lovely now to see him (along with Hogan) making lots of noise and jumping about again. It's just been great having Hogan join the family, he's a lovely piggy :)

Palacial!

Lovely to see, I would like to add Hoagy on guard...

Lovely to see Buzzy so happy again. I never knew so much guinea pig could hop around with such agility... ! x>>

Buzzy is just pleasantly rounded! He had a real turn of speed the other day when he was doing his zoomies, he nearly matched Hogan's agility. :))
