Cheeky Chubbies
Junior Guinea Pig
I posted about Buzzy getting a new friend in this thread http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=86876 and was so chuffed that he and Archie were getting on ............ well very sadly I spoke too soon. Archie and Buzzy had a fight, drawing blood and leaving two piggies (and me) very upset! It's such a shame as Archie was lovely but even separated neither pig was happy. :0
Joanne at Milhaven was very supportive and said we could bring Archie back to rescue and try dating again for Buzzy. We came home with Hogan and took things really slowly, watching them carefully with towel at the ready. After a week all seemed to be going well but then we came home and the boys had been fighting with both having little injuries. I wanted to give them every chance to be together so I gave them a buddy bath and for an hour or so afterwards they were the best of buddies but sadly it didn't last.
Having watched them I think the problem is that Buzzy finds it hard to share food (even when there are lots of bowls). When his friend Woody was poorly with his dental problems I had to feed them separately so Woody could have time to eat. Buzzy must have got used to having his food all to himself and so found it hard to share with a new piggy.
Hogan, though had captured our hearts and we couldn't give him up! So I've adapted the C&C putting them side by side with their own base and mezanine level. They both seem really happy now, popcorning and wheeking and are very often found sitting next to each other by the grid divide. Hogan's personality is starting to come out and he is such a little sweetie but very cheeky too. Buzzy still has his teddy which he snuggles up to but he is much more lively and more himself now he has Hogan next to him.
Thank you Joanne for being so patient and helpful with us.
