Cage liner wadding?

I'm going to be trying to make a cage liner (wish me luck! p )
I know most people put a mattress pad in the center for wadding, and most people say cotton. But i was wondering if you could use a polyester one?

Hi i make and sell these (www.guineapigcomforts.weebly.com) you need a 100% cotton topped mattress topper as it allows the pee through to the wadding later, the one youve linked wont allow it through so well i know some people have used them but i have before and they dont work as well,

how do you wash them and how often?

In a single duvet cover in a washing machine with no softener but a bit of white vinegar if needed to kill smells, mine last a week but i have big cage with a kitchen area, it depends on how many pigs you have and what size cage, also boars may be a bit smellier so need more frequent changes
