Hello. I am becoming a little overwhelmed with my Guinea Pigs. We had 4, then 1 died and my wife decided to get another 2. Now we have 5 which I think is a bit too much for our setup.
We have around an 8x3 cube area which has linoleum on the floor, then some white washable puppy pads (I think they are puppy pads), covered by fleece. In the high traffic areas, we double up on the puppy pads and fleece, or use bathroom mats. As a hay area, we use a large tray filled with hemp bedding. This stuff is really absorbent and doesn't smell.
We spot clean poops each day.
The hemp is replaced weekly. We remove any old hay daily. We also scoop out some of the hemp mid-week.
The top pads and fleece/bathroom mats need to be changed every 2 days really. And at the end of the week when we change the bottom pads and fleece, they are really soaked. I think everything needs to be changed much more often.
I was hoping for some advice that would allow us to do weekly changes of the bottom pads & fleece? Or with 5 piggies, we just need to change them more often?
