Trixie my healthy guinea pig that is now housed with one of her sisters is very underweight is there anything I can give her that will bulk her up but not got her sister up to much as she is double the size
Someone suggested Oats but they didn't say what kind if anybody has any suggestions please feel free to add your thoughts
Thank you

I wouldn't give anything to fatten her up as oats and other fattening foods are not the healthiest and full of sugars too. If she is underweight because she has recently come to you then stability, routine and a good diet should be enough for her weight to increase naturally. If she has been with you a while and has lost weight then I would recommend a vet visit to establish why there is weight loss.

When you say she is underweight is this based on her weight, loss of weight or can you feel that she is skinny?

Is she definitely underweight or just small? One of my boys is healthy but it 350g less than my other adult boy. That's just the way he is.

I personally wouldn't use anything specific, just give her alone to me with food, lots of hay, and so pellets and veg she can take her time with.

How old is she and how much does she weigh?

I agree with Jaycey, my late minipig Jemima only every got to around 850-900g at a top weight but was healthy and not underweight, she was just really little. Whereas my new piggy Willow is gaining but only 740g at the moment and you can feel her shoulders/spine too much so I know she is underweight. I'm not giving her anything additional but she is gaining steadily

I think the only thing is to part them at feeding times. Hay doesn't matter as I know you put plenty in, if you can put them close with maybe a divider between them. To feed them.

They are both eight weeks old but sunny is double Trixie size
The vet said Trixie was healthy but underweight

They both like the veg so that's a good start and the Burgess pellets with mint in them

I think as long as Trixie is healthy and getting enough access to the veg and pellets (ie not being bullied off them) and as long as she is steadily gaining weight at her age she should be fine. I wouldn't risk high fatty/sugary foods at this time

I'm just giving them Timothy standard feeding hey pellets and veg for the moment

My Patchy is a small piggy too compared to her sister Coco who is over 100gms heavier and looks really big boned. She eats like a pig (oink oink) but is just petite but she's healthy. She has a enormous bottom though and is very long. I'm sure Trixie will thrive with her new diet when she adjusts a bit more, you have only had her a couple of weeks haven't you?

She seems to be putting it on weight that is a picture up this morning and she feels a bit fatter
Correction I picked her up this morning
