Can Guinea Pigs Eat The Branches Of Lilac Or Mountain Ash Trees?

I am wanting to make a wooden tunnel for my pigs and I only have a lilac and mountain ash tree and want to make sure it's safe for them to chew on.
 
They should be ok with most hardwoods, so mountain ash would be fine.
I actually found a company in the UK that makes all of their hutches from it!
I would avoid lilac though.
