I have had what I thought was a cold for last couple of days. But it has got worse today and I have added about another 4 symptoms to my list. I had to leave work early today. I'm now worried it could be swine flu so will be ringing docs tomorrow am to see what they think. I am worried that my piggies can catch it!

Does anyone know if it is possible for them to catch colds / flu from people as I'm worried about them now.

The shot answer is no...but it is worth practicing excellent hygiene anyway. Not sneezing or breathing on them, washing hands before and after handling them etc.

If you can, get someone else to do the usual jobs with the pigs so you can rest up and get better soon!

Thanks I will still have to do most of the work but will make sure I wash my hands before feeding / watering etc.. and I will limit handling too for now.

Yep and it works the other way too, wash hands AFTER holding and feeding any animal. :)
