Hello, my Guinea Pig has had on and off runny sometimes watery diarhea after a round of antibiotics. He took probiotics during the treatment and the runs showed up a couple months later. I also give the charcoal water and more probiotics when he has an episode but lately they are not working. I reduce the produce etc. Wondering if they can safely take bentonite clay? Ik most creatures and humans can but I'm not seeing any information online anywhere pertaining to Guineas and the vet has no idea. TYIA.

I wouldn’t personally especially if your vet cannot recommend it. Have you tried removing all veggies/fruit and just giving a diet of good quality hay for 48 hours and see if that helps.

:agr: I would not use it.

So he had antibiotics and then months later started with the diarrhoea?
It’s nothing to do with the antibiotics in that case. Has he been seen by the vet for the diarrhoea?

What probiotics have you tried and is he still on probiotics?
Have you tried using poop soup from a healthy companion to help repopulate his gut with the correct bacteria?
Are you weighing him regularly and syringe feeding if he isn’t eating enough hay?
