Hi guys as you know my piggies have had a falling out and are separate. Twiglet is merging with the herd but I still have Pickle who is a Rex Guinea pig. I have got the opportunity to have a skinny pig and was wondering whether it would be possible to bond Pickle with a skinny pig? I am hopeful but I would like opinions on whether it is likely to work?

Great thank you so much :) I am so excited about the possibility of getting a skinny but I don’t want to rush into it without doing the research first

No well done for not rushing things. I dont know alot about skinnies, only that they eat alot more, and need extra care with being kept warm enough i THINK. These 3 members will give you lots of info about them

that made me chuckle - only because Skinny Pigs and you said they eat a lot more lol... ( i know they are called skinny for their fur ) :lol!:

Skinnies follow them same rules as furry's when it comes to bonding. Just remember though that, as they have no hair, they are prone to getting more scratches etc during the bonding process if things get a little exciting as they have nothing to protect them. This is normal. Hope that helps!

Yes its completely up to the piggies if they get on, just be careful of the skinny pig getting any bites! Our skinny pig Tallulah got quite badly injured in a failed bonding with my main herd (she attacked the boss pig, who retaliated!) But she bonded very well with her lovely furry husboar Ollie.
Best of luck!

My mum has already picked out a name (despite is being my pig lol). I like it though. She thought of Branston who will be sharing a cage with pickle (all been well)😂

I have Jasmine and Anna together. Jasmine was a little hard to get along with but that was because she was living alone for pretty long and didn’t know how to socialize. She did get some scratches when I tried to bond her with some others, that is probably the main issue to worry about.9523C417-DB9D-4A63-BF36-FCB9451A8B1C.webp32DF43BA-4329-4D6F-86CB-7B05EBCEC717.webp

OMG that last photo 😍😍😍 beautiful piggies!

I have skinny pigs but no experience of bonding them.
Do please think carefully about getting one. They need to be kept warm all year round. That means heating the room they are in 24/7 when it is cold. We have a thermostatically controlled heater set at 19 degrees C and have a digital thermometer in their room so we can check the temperature.
They eat way more food than our haired pigs and of course poo more too.

Hi yes my room has a thermometer and I have snuggle safes for the colder months as well. I also have a portable heater as well as a long radiator which goes all along my wall. I have 8 piggies so I always have plenty of vegetable and food (they have their own fridge).

That is a very good point, they really arent just another guinea pig, aside from temperature and foid consumption and extra pooping they are all very inbred and although I love my little Tallulah-oolah-woolah she is admittedly a bit weird. Hyperactive, very easily bored, doesnt sleep much. Fleecy cosies sound fine, but she's fussy about anything touching her skin. A lot of 3am wheeking and water bottle rattling. And our vets who are very piggy savvy didnt quite know what to do with her, when she needed surgery her weird metabolism needed 4x the usual dose of anaesthetic drugs to put her under then they struggled to wake her up again, and then she had a weird allergic reaction to the standard guinea pig suture material she'd been stitched up with...
Its great to have a skinny pig because otherwise they would probably be destined for a life of breeding expensive inbred babies nobody quite knows how to look after properly, but they are a big commitment!

Beginning to set up a little ball pit for him. I have a 160 plaza coming on Monday and I get him Sunday night so hopefully he will be okay in this till Monday morning? I have a standing water bottle coming and will put hay and food bowls nearer the time.
The ball pit is 120 by 55cm.

It should be fine. I had the girls in a ball pit until I (re)built the c&c

He is everything I ever dreamed of. So warm and beautiful. I am letting him settle in his cage for today but he sat on my knee for some pepper when his mom was handing him over 😍

Little Branston is super cute! He is already trying to get to his neighbours lol

Was really worried about Branston getting cold so I bought some extras to make sure his room will be nice and warm for him.
