oh god... I vowed never to get any more. I can't cope with the heartbreak & the stress of getting to a decent pig vet really puts me off.

But the house is so weird without Billy!

He was such a huge part of my day... and I miss his wonderful hair, and his cheeky face and his cuddles. And being screamed at when I open the front door!

My friend has informed me our new local vet has been great with her rabbits & is apparently under mentorship of John Chitty. This is tempting me.

Can I do it again?

I mean what sort of cages are people using indoors now for 2 boys? Not C&C.

Argh! Why do these hairy children get under our skin!

They do worm their ways into our hearts right? :) I vowed that I wouldn't have another piggy after the sudden loss of my sow Vinny and now here I am with Mo and hopefully a boar friend coming soon!! I would love a C and C but I use either a ferplast or I've just got a neo savic- I think thats what it's called. Diy cages are great though and if you have the time I'd advise making your own cage.

I had C&C a few years back & I hated it! I have a very big ferplast but think I would have to go bigger if I had grown up boys.

Argh it's so hard... I love them so much I just can't stand having to go so far to see a decent vet. And I hate it when they're ill... I don't know if I can resist tho..

I have one of those ferplast type cages, i'm not to sure of the brand. Its 140x70 but i feel like its too small even for two sows so if possible I would go the biggest you can get.

Yeah I think mine is a ferplast 140 but I had my boy in there on his own quite a while I'm looking at it thinking it wouldn't be big enough for 2. Not sure I really have room to go bigger - and don't like the thought of outside.... decisions decisions!

I'm using two connected Midwest cages for two 10 month old boars at the minute. I agree though, getting enough space is key, especially for teenage phase boars.

@PAMELAKT I didn't know you lost Billy I am so sorry! He was an absolute trouper and his story gave me so much strength with Fudge. We both had some hard decisions with our little mites, I'm gutted he has lost his fight :-(

Much love xx

My 8 year old house bunny passed away 2 weeks ago and I swore I'd never get another bunny or small furry animal. My heart was so broken. I miss him so much. I didn't want to feel like I was replacing him but after a few days I knew that I wanted to carry on with a similar routine of sharing my fruit and veggies, having cuddle time and just seeing a little critter around me again. I decided to have a think about getting guinea pigs instead.

Long story short, I will be collecting my 3 girls next month! I'm going for the C&C type cages.

I was desolate when I lost Bumble last August - I still had the 2 single old ladies - But I just couldn't cope without a rumbly boar - the house was so quiet- so I now have Humphery who loves a back massage just like Bumble did and rumbles all the time - gooooooo piggies!

I am selling an indoor cage. This one

Rabbit Cage Reviews - Liberta Rabbit Retreat 150 Cage (R6A)

You are welcome to come and have a look and to meet Mistletoe and Jingle. There is a lovely rescue in bishops waltham, wheek and squeak that is on the recommended list on the forum.

I am in !ove with two sows from there atm
That's a great looking cage! I'm assuming that's bigger than my ferplast - I'd have to check the measurements & make sure I have room I love the look of it tho! I actually have been sent a form to fill in for the rescue, but need to sort out cage size first... where are you?

I did, I had taken him to the vet on Saturday as he seemed to have a noisy chest & he died during the night. It's so upsetting, I was glad he died in peace in his little house tho & I didn't have to make nasty decisions for him. He did very well considering he had so many problems.
I just don't know if I can bring myself to get more, I'm nervous about it... but do enjoy them so much!

Oh wow! Yes I feel similar... another thing that makes me nervous is the face a decent pig vet is a good 40 miles away & it's really stressful if they're ill as I have to keep asking for time off work to travel all that way outside of rush hour. My friend seems to think our new local vet is exotics so I'm waiting to find out... my mum keeps telling me I am too old for pets! But you either love animals or you don't! Good luck with your new girls! piggies are so much fun... xx

Rubbish! You're never too old for pets. I'm hardly in my first flush of youth (More like my 5th!:lol!:) and I have 5 piggies who are just over a year old. I love them all dearly and I know I shouldn't say this :shh: but Betsy is my favourite a beautiful Sheltie (or she was before her rather brutal visit to the piggie barbers where I had to cut all her skirt of to keep her cool):yikes:

Well I don't see why there has to be an age limit... I do want to have a baby after I am married this October but even then I'd like my children to grow up loving animals not in a house without any...

It's just this cage issue! We have moved to a nice sized house! But there is just limited space for huge cages upstairs... I had my cage in my spare room before but soon as I have a baby that's being turned into a nursery. So I need to really think about space...

Hmm:hmm: Might be a problem:hmm:. Is there nowhere else for a cage? A space in your living room or dining room perhaps?

I'm lying really, we have room it's just the comments of having big ugly cages upstairs...

The cages are huge arent they. We just moved into a new house that's a little on the small side but there is a nook just perfect for the cage and I can see the piggies from my office, the kitchen and the lounge room but the cage is so chunky and is a massive eye sore and the area that needs constant cleaning or the house looks like a mess but it's the only place they can go.

Yeah this is the thing... we just moved to our house in September & have had to tour all the families around it (grrr) & I can see people's faces when they see a big cage. I have a garden but don't like the idea of them being outside either.

My partner has a 'man room' so I think this weekend we will have a measure & drag the old cage in & see if I can turn that from 'man' to 'hobby room' hahahaha!

I'd like to have more piggies  but have no more room:coat::flag:I have 5 and my OH would have a fit if I came home with any more:yikes:
